Resonance Square

A cool physics demonstration: when a two dimensional object is vibrated, patterns of waves can be seen. The sand on the plate collects in the nodes, or areas of no motion, of the waves. WARNING - DO NOT PLAY LOUD!

Anyone attempting to use "tight" as a compliment automatically gets their post voted negative from me. Anyone care to join me in doing this?

Beautiful music it played... This is kinda stupid, but were did those 'designs' done purpously? Or does it just look like that by accident... pretty cool!

I think he meant to say that the demonstration is suposed to be viewed with respect to 2 dimensions. otherwise you would see 3-dimensional patterns which would be hard to do in this case due to gravity.

It wasn't done purposely, those spots (like someone said above) are just the "anti-nodes" where the waves have constructive interference.

Everything in nature has precise gemoetric shapes, from the atomic level to the galactic level. Allegedly "quantum foam" doesn't, but it's the exception.
