Resonance Square

A cool physics demonstration: when a two dimensional object is vibrated, patterns of waves can be seen. The sand on the plate collects in the nodes, or areas of no motion, of the waves. WARNING - DO NOT PLAY LOUD!

TWO DIMENSIONAL OBJECTS? OH MY GOD!!! EVERYONE RUN FOR THEIR LIVAARRAGGHH*kaboom*

There are no 2 dimensional objects (-_-) We exist in 3 dimensional space and time is usually counted as the fourth dimension with motion.

Nice demonstration. A sound like this is produced by using a sine wave oscillator, the best way to do this is by using a synthesiser that lets you choose the oscillator source. The simplicity of the sine wave lends itself to this sort of demonstration in that the patterns produced will be simple enough to show up using this method.

That is one of the most impressive things I have seen in a long time. Is there any scientific research that can be applied to studying these patterns?

bit worried about all these dogs using the internet to look at physics demonstrations?

I can see where they're coming from though..... good viewing.
