We did this back in the 9th grade. We made a "hoverboard" about 4x6 in. that went over a set track.

made a train project for my physics class in 11th grade on magnetic levitation....

we made a train track and designed a train that would move throughout the track by just a gentle push.... it was pretty neat....

Not forever but until one of the magnets loses charge so much that magnetic field gets weak or unstable... this isn’t as much of a trick but a science demonstration.
