The war of 1812 was won by Canada, do a little history. I know its probably taught in US schools that they won but I believe burning down the White House is winning.

No one really won the war of 1812, because neither country really gained anything from it. The boundaries between the two countries didn't move, and all it really did in the long run was alter politics, slowing the movement of the United States and Britian from enemies to allies and catapulting Andrew Jackson to the presidency (regardless of the fact that the war was technically over, at the Battle of New Orleans he did kick British ass)

The Canadians burned down Washington D.C. and it's because of us that you have that nice sparkly White House. By the way, your original objective of taking over Canada failed miserably. Nobody truly won, but both sides gained patriotism and made new deals which led to growth. The Americans did not destroy Canada at all, really. I know this is going to be buried fairly quickly, but the "Canada was pwnd nubs" comments were filled with ignorance.

Joe Purple, I think its interesint that you say, "your original objective of taking over Canada," because the way I was taught, invading Canada isn't the primary objective at all. The British were taking US sailors and impressing them into service, claiming they were still British citizens, thats what I was taught was the main cause of the war. But, if you are the United States, and you're at war with Britian, invading Canada is pretty much all you can do, you can't beat their navy and you can't fight them on their own soil. Obviously this comes from an American perspective, but any alternative thoughts are going to have been shaped by the nationality of the poster as well.
