^ Way to miss the point. ^ The moral is that not wearing your seatbelt is dangerous to the other people in a car, not just to yourself. Him bouncing around in the car was the cause of most of the critical injuries. Had he been belted in they might all have survived with no serious injuries. No doubt this ad is aimed at those people who have the attitude that it's their life to risk if they choose not to buckle up. It turns out he was responsible for more than just his own death.

I think the real point of this commercial should have been 'Buy Life Insurance'...I mean come on, the guy swerved into their lane and it couldve been for any reason; the guy coulda been having a heart attack or something. Things like this happen all the time and buckling your seat belt may give you some protection, but often people die anyways, and thats life - we all gotta go someday. I guess the only bad part would be the chick that lives on with brain damage - it would have been better if she died with the rest. But it was a good commercial, very graphic ^^.

The guy didn't live. The narrator indicated the the girlfriend received permanent brain damage so the implication is that the other 3 died.

I live in the U.S. and have always been a nag to friends and family about wearing their seatbelt in the back seat. I get a mix of responses. To the negatives I respond back with the fact that I believe it unfair to the people in the front who have regard for their own lives to be killed by the human missile that flies up from the back seat.

Someone asked why only teens are in the movie.
Teens are easier to "manipulate" into doing the right thing.
Old people tend to stay with their habbits. Even if they are seriously unhealthy. Most old tards refuse to put on the belt because they see themselves as the perfect driver. Though they can't help themselves from other moron drivers crashing into them, like in this movie.
IMHO there should be more violent scenes in these movies. You have to be touched the hard way to get all the idiots along with the idea.

...but on the next frame, it shows the Escort travelling backwards in a straight line.

Then when the black Ford Granada smashes into the Escort, the Escort is back at where the first impact was (as if it didn't move backwards from the BMW hitting it).

That was definately an impossible accident.. and if not it was due to some serious drunk driving. I mean seriously, its like one car hits, and then another one is like "lets join the fun' and crashes too. I dont know where the third car came from, but it was prettly lame. It was definately a case of silmutaneaos drunkness.
with what they portrayed, the guy who was flying did more dmage to himself then to his peers. And on the final not of critisism, the movie's realism was further hindered by the stupid music playing in the background. its not the 90's anymore!

either way though, if you werent wearing your belt then you cant really say that it was the fault of the three simultaneous drunk drivers. its your stupidity that made sure you got hurt.

Regardless of how plausable the commercial is - I was in an accident where an old chinese lady ran into the guy behind me at about 55 miles an hour w/out breaking. We were at a dead stop. His car bounced off of mine and she then plowed into the side of his car. He was hit from behind, bounced back from hitting me and got hit again by the same person on the passenger side of his car. If he didn't have a seatbelt on - he would have been dead like that ragdoll boy in this commercial.

His muffler was under his driver seat, and his passenger door was 2/3rds of the way into his passenger seat.

wow, i can't beleive i saw this agian. i went to Ireland in June of 2001 and saw this video about a week into the vacation. my family and i all agreed that this video should be played in the USA because it would get people to think twice about not wearing a seatbelt. well i think this is the next best thing as far as im concerned. im glad that the vidoe is on this site, now i can show all my friends what i was talking about for all these years. thanks

I always wear a seatbelt when I'm sitting in the frontseat, but, I must admit, I almost never wear it when I'm in the backseat, don't know why because I'm aware that it is as dangerous as in the frontseat.

Personally I wear a seatbelt whenever possible, mostly because it's habit and I'm OCD, but I know here in the states (at least connecticut) you don't need to wear a seatbelt if your in the back seat. Maybe it was just because he was already leaning into the middle of the car, but the drivers seat would normally have stopped him from flailing around as much as he did.
