A car-lover has set up a website asking members of the public to donate funds towards buying him a Ferarri.
The founder of buymeaferrari.co.uk says in a statement on the site that the idea was copied from similar plea for money for a dream house on another website.
The user explains that they donated some money to the site and in return, "I got an email thanking me but more importantly I made it possible for someone to get a bit closer to there dream home."
The statement goes on: "As a hard working guy I have always wanted a Ferrari and thought to myself what would why not put together this site and see if anyone would like to help me out."
The user tries to put donors' minds at rest by assuring them that any funds they donate will go towards the flash car.
The statement adds: "For anyone who is calling me a beggar, blagger etc you are welcome to your opinion but to be honest I don't really care as I said before I can happily live without the car it would just be nice to have one!"
But the hopeful has a long way to go. So far the fund stands at just £212.12. A Ferrari F430 Coupe costs £118,500.
The founder does, however appear to have some enthusiastic supporters.
Susan Green from Newcastle has posted on the site: "I have decided to donate £5 to the fund thanks to me winning at the bingo last week! Enjoy your new car whenever you get it."
And Garry Kent from New South Wales, Australia says: "Hope you get the car of your choice and look forward to seeing the photos! Next time your in OZ don't forget you owe me a beer!"
