My fundamental problem with Christianity is the belief that you must behave or else you`re punished. You must do as you`re commanded... or else!

It`s just an empty concept. It teaches you nothing, and has no reaching applications. Everyone wants to think the idea is moral, but it is anything BUT moral.

People grow up without a foundation, and they can`t imagine anything else but a giant hand waiting to smite them should they do something wrong.

They`re not doing RIGHT to be helpful or nice, they`re "doing right" because they don`t want to be hit. What about using "The Golden Rule" as a basis for morality? Why not encourage being helpful as a means of establishing community?

We`re all in this together, we got one life. Morality should be based around all of us helping each other to reach that end safely, happily, and surrounded by friends. We do good because its for our own good, and the good of others.

I know i`m opening a can of worms here but I think it`s necessary. No one is good, as Jesus said Himself, "...No one is good but God alone" (Mark 10.17-18) I`m trying to make this short but it`s really something I think people should understand about what Jesus means. Most people have a problem with "worship" although, God, is literally Love. Think about the golden rule. To worship God is to love one another, to serve one another. Problem is now a days (and as in the past) people of the world can not define what love actually is without God (or more literally "Love") and since the beginning, want to do what they want to do when they want to do it.

Now, I wish not to have those of you reading this to think "I know what love is! This man is a buffoon!" We were all created in the image of Love (God), spirits of servitude (think about what Jesus really did during His time here) We all accept and acknowledge Love (good, God) is a force of the universe, and if you don`t even man`s laws will lock this man away, as he does whatever his body and spirit pleases not seeing the difference between "good" and "bad", in this sense, "good" and "bad" are subjective. It all exists only in the mind of the conscious individual, which, I do not believe is true.

Back to the point, none of us are "good". God does not tell us "behave or else..." Love (God) calls for us to hold compassion, forgiveness, for one another, not only because we are all human but because He loves us ALL! Jesus suffered the punishment of ALL humanities "sins" (which I would like to point out, "sin" means transgression of the love of another)

Honestly, I was replying to the first part of your statement. I think you`re a lot closer to the truth in the bible than you know (and you learn this through love!). I can expound on the wonderful, fear, of God (and I understand that will sound bad to you but I will wait for the wish of a response to retort) I will explain though that the majority of "christians" do NOT even understand what it is to be a follower of Christ, even though it is simple enough for a child. This has been the work of the world ("satan" as he`s called now) Lucifer`s way is literally the way of the world, and its crazy how integrated this is in reality. Those who remain hidden remain protected. You know since the beginning, the "nice" or "kind" man has always "finished last" in the eyes of the world. It`s just not beneficial to the individual to look and love those around us before ourselves. But to dominate those around us (in a flesh a blood view). The fact is that as you grow in Love, you will truly wish to do what you were made to and that is to love. To help, to serve within capability all of humanity.

I`ll leave this here, but I WILL be here for those who have questions (not that I have all the answers) I will do my best.

You cannot define a word by repeating it, i.e. God is God, dog is dog. You need a proximal genre and a specific difference, that is why you cannot define an omnipresent God.
That is just one of the flaws of your argument (more like speech diarrhea), and I`m gonna stop with that one because I know there`s no point in arguing with you.

Religion is archaic and no longer relevant in today`s world.

Religion was set up to control primitive superstitious and UNSCIENTIFIC people through fear of punishment. Because these UNSCIENTIFIC people had no idea why rain fell or the seasons changed they came up with the simplest answer they could think of. God made it all happen.

Religion claims to know all of the answers. It does not.
Science, however, readily admits it does not know all the answers but it sure as hell knows a lot more than Religion.

Governments have replaced religion, laws have replaced commandments, hell has been replaced by prison. Religion is OBSOLETE and only serves to hinder the progress of our evolution intellectually technologically and biologically.

Open your eyes. Look at the night sky. Each one of those stars is a sun that possibly and probably supports at least one planet capable of supporting life, either as we know it or much much different from what we know. Even in the minute improbable chance that there was a supreme creator it is definitely not YOUR idea of a supreme creator.

If you want to worship something then worship the sun. Worship the stars. Everything on this planet including the planet itself came from a star. The carbon our bodies are based in, the gold in your CPU the silicon that makes the windows you look out of, the Uranium that we use to destroy ourselves with. Everything came from the nuclear fission of Hydrogen and Helium in the core of a star.

Science holds the keys to the universe, not your god.

You`re talking to an ex-Jehovah`s Witness here. So not only did I have to study the bible, I had to study the Witnesses` never-ending series of books, magazines, and tracts. Furthermore, I was expected to evangelize on the street.

Then I started studying English Lit with a repertoire including, but not limited to, World History, Religious Studies, and Humanities.

You can spout off all the "the Bible is good!" you want. I`ve heard it millions of times before. Everyone`s heard it millions of times before.

Show me all the "good" you want, and I`ll turn around and show you the bad two-fold. Anyone want to get started on slavery, rape, poor treatment of women, and genocide to name a few?

And don`t try to say "Oh, well most of that is old testament". 2 Timothy 3:16: All scripture is inspired by God and beneficial.

The fact of the matter is, any version of Christianity that includes punishment by hellfire isn`t including an inherently good God. Most people are afraid of burning forever, as even indicated in the VERY VIDEO posted here.

The Bible is a decent work of fiction. It has a great moral story to it. But that one book, has lead to countless deaths in it`s name.

Saying you can`t kill someone because it is against your religion, how about because it just isn`t nice? I grew up in a very catholic family and it all wore down on me. I just can`t stand back and look at scientific proof of how old are world is and say it`s a lie.

I have read the Bible several times and never saw mention of Dinosaurs in it. I do believe we can all agree that they existed.

Though I did see last the Vatican announced it will put money towards finding the existence of ET. Semi step forward for setting the world back a good 100 years.

There are far my logical arguments against religions and one good one for, "What if there is a god and you don`t believe when die?" Doesn`t matter, the cosmos are randomness and us being here is a random thing. Had the Big Bang happened a micro of a fraction different and we might not be here today.

Sorry to break the hearts of all faithful catholics but giving 10% of your yearly earnings to the church, isn`t going to make anyone happier but the Caddy driving priest.

Don`t hate humanity because of brainwashed religious morons. Religion has held our technological advance back enough so that we do not destroy ourselves with knowledge that we are not ready for. Archimedes was killed by the Romans in one of many of their religious conquest wars around 200 BC. It has been recently found that he was not only close to understanding calculus, but was bang on! How long do you think we would have lasted with a controlling, and conquering empire like the Romans having knowledge of the math that is responsible for all of the engineering advances we have today? Religion is a phase in our evolution that will not survive science for much longer.
