3D Reconstruction of Flight 1549

This shows a 3-D simulation of the flight from the moment the brakes are released at La Guardia to the collision with the geese to Sully’s amazing touchdown. It’s an up-close-and-personal look at the demeanor of both pilots.

The funny thing about the Quick Reference Book that he told his co-pilot to get, it used to have tabs in it(for quick referencing) but US Airways recently stopped using the tabs to save money and because of that it ended up being completely useless to them.

There are some pilot stories out there in the net that would chill your bones. I remember watching a documentary on discovery where some pilot flew over the pacific ocean and landed safely by controling the plane solely with engine thrust, as he had lost control of the rudder, or something like that.

Fuck me, what a hero! A couple of decades of experience and nerve all compressed down into 60 seconds. And the result is he saved all 155 souls on board.

I can only pray next time I`m on board a plane I should be so lucky to have a pilot like Capt Sullenberg.

new york departure sounds like roger from american dad. a bird can`t have killed both engines, it would have gone different. I wonder what made them think it had.

Good call on the whole "Were going in the Hudson"-thing, if they would`ve tried to make it to either one of the other airports they probably wouldn`t have made it and lives would have been lost...

Hats off to the pilot, but have you seen an interview with him? He didn`t get excited here because he is like a robot in real life. In fact, he may be living tissue over a metal endoskeleton.

I used to be an air traffic controller, but man seeing these vids STILL gives me chills, and some insight... As a pilot they have to tell ATC they`re going down, while talking to each other to fly the aircraft.. and ATC is pretty helpful!
