look i`m just gonn ask, clearly homosexuality isn`t genetic, otherwise it`d have been naturally selected out a very long time ago, so clearly one can`t be born gay, and so it must be psychological. is it impossible that homosexuality is not a psychological disorder? has it ever been proven not to be?

Genetic variations still happen man. just like some people still are born with pysical/genetic deformations. I think there are both genetic gays and psychological gays. Why does it only have to be 1 reason.

^^ Actually, the current school of thought is that there is a "gay" gene, so to speak.

And for years geneticists were confused about how a gay gene would fit in with natural selection - it seems counter intuitive because gay men obviously have less offspring.

That was until they discovered that the same gene occurs in women - but rather than turning the women homosexual, it made them like men even more (known as hyper-heterosexuality) - as a result of this they also have, on average, more children than women without the gene - which obvious increases the gene`s chances of being passed on, which fits in with natural selection.

So rather than it simply being a gay gene, it is best described as a gene that increases attraction towards men, regardless of gender.

It`s a lack of a father during youth I reckon. Almost all the gays I know had an absent/dead/divorced/etc.. dad. I believe it`s a freudian type of need for that closeness they missed out on with a dominant male. I believe it`s possibly genetical with the really girly/transvestite gays, they`re probably really woman unfrtunately born with dicks.

ok i hadn`t heard that a gene had been found, fair enough, i myself don`t have a problem with people being gay but *if* it was an affliction it`d surely be better to go for treatment.
if ppl had a thing for their mother say, or animals or whatever i`m sure most ppl wouldn`t applaud them for coming out about it but suggest they see a psychologist.
i know homosexuality has been observed in the animal kingdom also, but in those cases the animals in question are just playing around, they don`t exclusively like 1 particular sex, they just like sex.it seems that most of society feels homosexuality is as acceptable as heterosexuality, while beastiality clearly is not, and i guess i`m with one of them, though i can`t really say clearly why i feel that way. the only reason i ask is that well clearly it takes a male and a female to produce offspring, that is the natural rule and there`s no way around that, and it would bother me if no-one had ever considered an experiment or something to try to find out if it was a condition that was treatable. further i wonder if there could be both `natural` gays who just like the same sex, and ones who may have a condition where fear of the opposite sex and the natural reaction is to be driven to the same sex.
any further thoughts/studies you know about?

just gonna add clarification to for anyone who couldn`t be bothered reading all, heterosexuality and homosexuality are ok but any other sexuality is not and usually would get a person into therapy, that`s fine and i agree, but why?

Oh yeah...a gay gene, so to speak. What bullshit. Gay is behavior. If it feels good, go for it. But it hasn`t been bred out of us because it has nothing to do with genetics and everything to do with behavior that rewards our pleasure center.

Why the fuck can`t people just admit it? It doesn`t make it any less natural.

There has not been a gay gene found!.... some scientists, geneologists suspect there is such a thing, and it was proven in the 90s alot of "gays"" male/female" is from childhood issues, abuse etc etc im not going into it. But thats only a percentage, the others are perhaps a choice thing, science has also proven procreation is something we all have and its built into us, it cant be switched off, humans and animals. so if you go along that line of thinking, you cant be born gay, but there are gays so...

Man I have been gay for many years now and can clearly say that with many men I have met it is very much a genetic trait picked up on before they were even 7. I do think its a genetic thing and not a psychological. I went though many years trying to make it work with women because of social peer pressure. I grew up and figured out I like men no biggie. Here is the gay gene research that has been done if anyone wants to read into it.
