World: Held by the Taliban

For seven months, The New York Times' David Rohde was held captive by the Taliban. Much of what he learned during that time came from watching videos- day after day- with his captors.

No, you leave. You let them have their desert hole and get the fuck out.

They hate Barack Obama why? Because of drone strikes and the threat of increased troops.

Barack should have said, "You know, you guys are angry because we keep getting in your shit. So, rather than keep giving you reasons to attack us, we`ve decided to bow out. Here`s your country, have a nice day."

Oh, but then people will say "But they attacked US" forgetting we`ve been meddling with the middle east for decades now.

Just fucking leave. I can`t believe people are dying for some oil... I mean, desert.

Anybody who thinks that radical militants like the ones we just saw will stop killing if we leave is naive.
If there is nothing amazing to see or believe around you, you will turn to anything.
If you have nothing, you fear nothing.

In the end, we could`ve been them and they could`ve been us. They`re not racially inferior, they`re just humans.

Afghanistan is one country I don`t mind seeing invaded if it gets the Taliban out of power and a real government installed.

Yeah, but we`re not the world police chap. Everyone gets pissed off at Americans for their military complex, and I see it every day.

Yet I don`t see anyone else pitching in to fight the Taliban. Look, this is an issue of logistics. Its great that Afghani women are doing better with a lessened Taliban force, but the Taliban is seeing resurgence.

We`re getting reports of dead soldiers and drone attacks killing civilians. Not only that, but the next door neighbor is Pakistan and they`re not locking down their borders. One of the biggest problems we`re facing is we`re facing combatants in a region that have caused many of Eurasia`s greatest military forces of their times to grind to a halt.

This isn`t a conflict that is fought with bombs and planes. Oh, and many of the weapons and supplies they use against us were PROVIDED by us to fight the Russians.

WHOOPS.

Like I said, these are people that ASKING for a reason to fight. This is something that has to be dealt with internally. These are people that think you and I are are in willing cahoots with Satan. And they really fucking think that.

We`re talking about people that -WANT- to die to kill US. So when our soldiers die, they get shipped home in a fucking box to crying, weeping families. We kill one of their guys, and they see it as a righteous loss, and one of their family members takes up arms to take on the great evil.

It doesn`t end. So, again, this isn`t something we should be tackling alone for one. Secondly, if we`re going to tackle it, we have to do it smart (like making good with the tribes there instead of accidentally blowing them up). Thirdly, who fucking gave us permission to install governments?

Things would be alot different if the Americans didnt finance, arm and support this extreme muslim ideology/group when it was being fought by the Russians.

The only way to stop this war is to win the support of the young Afgans, but why would they be interested in supporting what has been exposed as a completely corrupt system of Government, a respected leader capable of uniting the people and obtaining their loyalty could have the potential to curb the current recruitment by the extremists, or a complete brute like Sadam who just kills all opposition.

You just wait. Pakistan will piss off India soon and they`ll be wiped off the planet and the USA will have to sit and watch the fireworks. It`s only a matter of time.
