I remember Hitchen`s talking about that colision with Andromada in 5 billion years. Someone at the back of the room asked, "sorry did you say 5 Million years?"

"no," Hitchen`s replied, "5 Billion"

"oh, thank goodness for that!"

Things like "They are moving away from us (the stars at the expansion) faster than we can catch up" makes me think about time and space and whether Einstein was right about `time travel` where if you went faster than the speed of light, you would reverse time but at the consequence of not being `matter` at one point lol.. :P

This kind of information always makes me have an existential crisis. Makes me wonder what the point of this is, what am I actually trying to achieve here. I know I will never be able to get my head around it and it makes me frustrated, also the fact that I am so small in this universe and the possibly that the entire cluster of galaxies that we are aware of may just be the components of a cell comprising a larger cosmic structure really fuck with my head.

Space is mindblowing.
Given the distance between galaxies, i bet its safe to say mankind will be alone for a while longer.

@evergrim

Have pride in the fact that one of the most complex things the universe ever produced is you. But then again, life is probably rampant throughout the universe considering its size.

As a student that is taking Astronomy class, this video is by far the best I have seen. Very informative yet it can be understood by a wide audience. Don`t forget the fabulous photos of the universe. Spectacular!

Makes me sad that I will die long before human science could ever find answers. I think we currently understand about 1 x 10^-1000 of everything there is to know about the universe.

i`d just like to add one of my thoughts. if the universe started at a single point, and expands, no matter what the rate of expansion (outside of being infinitely fast) the universe cannot be infinitely large. no matter how fast the rate of expansion, the size would be finite.

i really enjoyed this video. Thank you. I simply can not feed myself enough information on the cosmos.

And to think, this is just the tip of the iceberg. All the governing physics, the quantum mechanics, the higher dimensions. They are all so closely related, and yet we know nearly nothing about them. It is truly sad that humans still find ways to justify our wars, bickering, and hatreds. i truly believe the only thing that will stop us from completely destroying ourselves will be the conscious combined effort to explore that which we simply know nothing about.

I have a feeling that the official age of the universe (as we understand it) over 13 billion years will get many times older in my lifetime.
