Obama Issues New Medical Cannabis Guidli...

In what can only be described as major departure in the so-called ‘war on drugs’, the Obama Administration issued a new three page memo yesterday morning mapping out the federal government’s new guidelines for states that have laws protecting medical cannabis patients. In February Attorney General Eric Holder indicated in a press conference that the Obama Administration–which favors physician-recommended access to medical cannabis–would abate from what had been an aggressive law enforcement (and propaganda) campaign against medical access to cannabis. Yesterday’s memo from the Department of Justice formalizes these changes and is a MAJOR victory for citizens who support cannabis law reform! norml.org leap.org

I think even if you were a supporter of the War on Drugs, this is very necessary. Not only are patients being oppressed, but the government is wasting money on an already wasteful endeavor.

The more money siphoned off arresting poor, sick people the better.

Making things a crime does not stop people from doing it. In fact, for how ever much force there is exerted in the prohibition of a thing there is always an equal force exerted by criminals to deliver it to those who want it.

Even in countries where you can be put to death for smoking pot, people still smoke it, so the idea that you can control the masses into not doing something they want to do with imprisonment is obviously retarded.

It`s nice to see a tiny bit of headway being made......

*toke* Shit is an interesting word isn`t it ... is there any past tense of shit? Like ... shitted? Is `shat` the past tense? Does it have a past participle, like swim/swam/swum ... shit/shat/shut? Hmm ... *toke*

Go Obama. N stuff. I`m not in your country but woo to you.

governments claim to make law on natural principles, but when they claim those natural principles which produced a plant also make that plant illegal, this is evidence of massive cognitive dissonance. Fundamentally flawed thinking and manipulation of ignorance is the only way marijuana was ever made illegal in the first place. To engage in such rhetoric is akin to claiming this a "victory" for stoners. All this is is that no longer will sick people and those people helping them will no longer be punished. If that is a victory, i`d hate to see what a loss is, because that is exactly what these laws have been so far: tools for the perpetuation of economic slavery made possible by the prison industry. did i mean prison system? No, i meant industry. the real question is: is the price of people having jobs worth them incarcerating their family members? and what psycho-social problems are inherent in such a fallacious system.

In regards to the comment: "Funny how Conservatives aren`t sticking up for state`s rights in this instance... " this is reverting back to states rights for self-determination.

here in switzerland it´s quite liberal: it´s illegal, but still so many (young) people do smoke weed, that often even in clubs people are somoking and nobody cares.
