I`m still trying to figure out how this makes NASA look ridiculous. Sure they took some nice pictures for real cheap, and that`s a good thing no doubt but, NASA sends hundreds and even thousands of pounds of cargo into space, using enormous rockets. No matter how inefficiently they do it, which is just the nature of most government endeavors, these students don`t make them look ridiculous by any means. Even they mentioned wanting to attach a rocket to it.

The title aside, good video :) - keep up the good work all you private space adventurers.

^yeah. Sending a couple pounds to a very low altitude considering where things like satellites and the space station orbits is no big deal. But they did a great job.

Just need to invent the weightless rocket now. Silly nasa with their physics.

Those news casters were annoying as hell. Show them a piece of rock and they would make hyperboles and become overenthusiastic.

^"there(they`re) not American". Why because they`re not white?

A digital camera, and a cell phone with GPS(made possible by NASA satellites) and internet, and a balloon. They`re not even the first people to do what they did, and NASA put people on the moon with a lander that had about the same amount of computing power as modern cell phones have. NASA projects are in part responsible for technology being advanced enough now, so they could buy the equipment for $150 and copy other peoples plans and computer programs, and take some mediocre pictures without having to do any work.

^ I think the part of the title that refers to making Nasa look bad is simply the cost. Nasa is renowned for it`s over inflated budget and over-scale workforce.

Two guys and $150 dollars to make a stratospheric camera? At the height of the space race that would be equivalent to a 9 week old fetus and 11 cents.

looking at the scale of this project and what it achieved. yes, it does make Nasa look rather silly. But Nasa still has the credit for the advances in technology that allowed these guys to make a statement on what costs could realistically be for Geographical survey photography.
