Republicans Talk Politics at Local Rifle...

A bunch of Broward County, Fla. Republicans convened at a local rifle range to talk politics and squeeze off a few rounds at bulls eyes.

One of them was a poster of a scary dude in a traditional Middle Eastern headdress -- another was human likeness with the initials of local Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz

Duty, DUTY! Fuck man, I can somewhat understand the RIGHT to bear arms, but duty?

Also the little old lady shooting a gun. The thought of people like that carrying guns around gives me the chills. I`m just glad I don`t live in America, with those kinds of people walking around.

I agree with the "duty" sentiment on your part. We don`t have a duty to bear arms, merely a right established by our constitution.

Most of these people are scared of a forced, government takeover. What boggles my mind is the fact that the government has, for a while, been carving away at our other rights. For instance, Sneak and Peek in the Patriot Act?

They told us it was counter-terrorism legislation. However, at this point its been used in THOUSANDS of non-terrorist cases. 4th Amendment`s been gutted, and they`re holing up in their homes with firearms to protect against them dirty Democrats?

Fact of the matter is we`re being bled out by BOTH sides. And not a single shot`s been fired. So keep your guns.

However, if the time comes that we do need to rise against the government, you`re fucked. You can have all the firearms you want, but if the government catches wind you`re a militia chap, it`s over. No warrant needed, they find you, arrest you, then notify you they had probable cause and obtain the warrant after.

Wooopee fuckin` do.

The reason gun control is effective in Australia is people aren`t generally paranoid about their own government. Cynical yes, critical yes, but not fearful. Because at the end of the day Australians don`t give a fuck.

I`ve lived in some rough neighbourhoods and never felt I needed to a gun to protect myself because no one else is armed either. Take the guns out of the neighbourhood and there`s no reason for having them in the first place.

There is some degree of violent crime in Australia but the criminals with guns only shoot other criminals, usually over drugs so if you`re not involved you are perfectly safe.

its one thing to say, IF we lived in the land of rainbows and puppy dogs i wouldn`t need/want a gun. and that`s a fine position to take. but we don`t. we live in a world with evil people who will do evil things then go eat lunch without a second thought.

i do want to defend my country. more specifically i want to defend what my country used to stand for. but more importantly and more to the point i want to protect those i love and care about; my friends and family. and when i say that, i mean from the thugs who think they own a block, not some guy in a far off land.

the only person responsible for my protection and defense is myself. not cops, not politicians, not the president. me. if i get mugged, if someone comes and kicks in my door, i would rather have the means and ability to defend myself directly then a telephone to call the cops.

As someone from the army, I think all these losers are just wannabe soldiers. They`re all talk and no action. Sure you may be brave with a gun, but let me see that fatty try to march for miles and then doing an attack or something, he`ll probably die in the process. What I`m trying to say is that it`s easy to be a badass when you`re surrounded by so much comforts. But that poor fatty probably would not last a few days in war.

Our "right" is based on the eighteen century when guns were a source of food and security because their nation defense were militias, they didnt have police, and they didnt get fat eating shit foods from the grocery store... it was not based around fatshit rednecks who just like to shoot and blow shit up. As for duty... what an asshole... If we were stormed by any competent opposing force he would be dead in seconds because he is too fat to run and his only experience with a gun is shooting targets that dont move and helpless animals. If we were stormed unexpectedly he would be dead on his couch watching nascar before he could get his gun, let alone load and fire. 2nd amendment is just used as an excused anymore, for people who like the power they feel holding a gun, the "duty" he feels is a false sense of reality that comes after firing off a few rounds.

All of that said shooting is quite fun and I would make it my hobby if it wasnt so damn expensive. However, I would never pretend to say it was a duty or anything but a privilege at this point in time with all the gun violence and senseless killings we endure.
