Wilcox was an army reservist. In Canada, roughly 50% of reserve infantry units are scottish and wear highland kit.

And yes Rha, that`s the ceremonial uniform they wear. Laugh all you want, but until you wear a kilt into bar, you have no fucking clue what you`re talking about.

The kilt is ceremonial dress, they wear regular camo when they`re in afghanistan cleaning up after your poorly thought-out criminal invasion.

I`m pretty sure they carry something they call a C8 rifle along with the dagger.

Sorry but why on earth would anyone do this? I mean seriously, I would probably do when I was in the army, and had no live ammo in the gun, but with ammo you always have to be fucking careful. I was afraid of just misfiring my weapon, let alone actually shooting someone!!

4 years seems extremely harsh in my OPINION. I think he deserved to be kicked out of the military because he has shown poor judgment. I don`t, however, think he should get jail time since it was voluntary stupid on both parts and one of them got the Darwin award for it.

^ If four years is too harsh a fine precedent will be set, in countries where euthanasia is illegal people who want to help loved ones with terminal diseases die will simply play quick draw with them and escape the law.

You have to penalise people for killing one another.

Bottom line, step one of ANYTHING to do with guns: Check if it`s loaded. If you don`t do that, and you kill someone, then it is your fault. Especially when you`re a trained hired professional.

Drive drunk, lose control, and kill someone = murder.
Soldier fucks around with guns and kills someone = murder.

He was lucky, and it`s fair enough that they only gave him 4 years as a negligent homicide. Anything else would be a license to murder for everyone else.

The judge actually stated quote "On all the evidence I am satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that the shot that killed Coporal Megeney was accidentally discharged..." etc.

How the hell is that "Criminal negligence causing death"?

The words "accident" and "negligent" are mutually exclusive, notwithstanding the use of "accident" to describe vehicle collisions. (Where you can have negligence leading to an "accident")

4 years is too harsh, i mean the judge even said that he believed the round was discharged by accident, and since they were both playing the game... i think myabe just put him behind a desk for the rest of the year, he has to live with knowing he killed a very close friend.
