Richard Dawkin kinda skated around Colbert`s inquires of how the universe itself came to be. Instead he kept going back to the Development of life and such. I`m interested now, in trying to understand what his thoughts on how the universe came to be actually are.

^ I think that was in part because he`s an evolutionary biologist. Unlike the religious community, scientist don`t like to talk about a bunch of shit they know nothing about whilst pretending that they do.

Richard Dawkins is a campaigner for evolution. So he always avoids talking about the origin of life (as evolution doesnt explain how the first cell came to be) nor does he talk about how the universe existed. Although he almost certainly believed in the big bang, he wont discuss it as it isnt what he wants to talk about.

Its also a way religious people try to debate him, by changing his evolution talk into the origin of life or the origin of the universe.. where we have no clear answer at the moment.

Why is Stephen Colbert such a clown? Do people enjoy watching someone playing a fool rather than watching a constructive conversation?

F**K America has changed. Public debates were once attended by the masses in town halls. But that was back in the time of Lincoln.

No wonder why America isnt moving forward as a nation.

Edit: "scruples" I see your POV. You would have a better understanding of American society as it is atm than I. The interview just seems to be lacking intelligence, when Dawkins has so much to offer.

Definitely a lesser form of debate or social persuasion than that used in the time of Lincoln. Times have changed. The Truth use to speak for it self.

Cosmologist = origin of universe
Abiogenisis = origins of life
Evolution = how life changes and gains complexity over time.

Learn the difference you life may depend on it, just because you don`t know where the universe originated from doesn`t mean evolution is wrong. Colbert just when down to the bottom of my books.. 95% if he didn`t just rip that statisctic from his arse, then 95% of Americans are retarded, and I feel bad for the other 5% of you intelligent ones out there.

shawnt84^ you completely missed the point, by colbert taking stance on a side of whatever sort of buffoonery is being debated and defending it using misconceptions and denial, he is spoofing the people who would normally take that stance and has a much better chance of getting through to them then having a "constructive conversation" whatever that means.
