No, it requires some light research. Instead of being condescending you could perhaps be enlightening? I don`t think every literature teacher or professor made sure to take some time for this subject.

Its essentially making light of Jules Verne`s love of Poe`s work. Jules Verne liked Poe`s `The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket` so much he wrote a sequel to it named `An Antarctic Mystery`.

So, effectively, Jules Verne was writing Poe fan-fiction ;D Oh, and he loved balloons.
