my buddy goes off just like him! claiming there is a unwritten rule in poker where you don`t bet hands like that, that it makes you stupid or whatever, and that you don`t know the game.

but i disagree with my friend and helmuth, if hes willing to put up his chips, he can play whatever hand the hell he wants, and if he wins, the gods favor him, if not, then bad call.

it doesn`t matter "who calls a 10/4". just because it goes against trend. you can`t even use "common sense" plea because of the variables, sure it might be slim odds, but odds nonetheless that hes shooting for. he called it. he won. thats within the games boundaries.

As a person who is a bad loser -even so bad that I am often ashamed of how much of a dick I can be-, I can understand Phil`s reaction. I mean, what the hell, you just don`t make that kind of play.

Then again, Phil is the tilting moron (but fun-to-watch-moron) that can make you a lot of chips by playing like an over confident baboon.

But then again, make this kind of play with some decent cards, goddammit, not 10-4.

@alifeva1. It`s not a unwritten rule or anything, it`s math. When someone makes a big raise before the flop there`s a good probability that that person has a good hand. In this case he had ace king. Calling such a hand with 10 4 offsuit gives you a chance of winning of about 30 percent versus his/her 70 percent. Even if he thought Helmuth was bluffing, throwing away those cards would still be the best thing to do. Poker is all about assessing your chances. Then again, it`s poker... can always get lucky.
