The funny thing is, everywhere that it has been tried, it turns out the making drugs legal, and accessible for free or through government subsidy has a huge cut in crime. Because you know what? If it`s not a crime to do drugs, their won`t be crimes related to it. :O

Plus you can`t tell people they can`t do drugs. Why? Because most people don`t care! Even if you threaten them with death, they keep on doing it. More over, the relationship between the level of organized crime and the methods it uses to how illegal the drugs are. In places where it is heavily policed and punishment is brutal, criminals are equally brutal. In areas where there is almost no prohibition there is very little violent crime related to that drug.

geeeettt fucckkked! Im already sick of paying taxes so fatties, alcoholics and smokers can undo the damage they`re doing to themselves. No way should we be paying to support a load of junkies.

Do all the drugs you want, just as long as you pay for them youself!

and if you want to reduce crime, get the police to actually do the job we`re paying them for.

THINK ABOUT THIS LEGALIZERS: what about the people who break a law while on something and say "it was the drugs". Do you penalize him anyway and say "its not the drugs its you"?

BUT!!! what if YOU were to accidentally trip mad balls and cause a public disturbance and it actually WAS the excess amount of drugs? What then? should you go to jail or get a criminal record? all because you ate too many mushrooms and tripped mad balls in the middle of the mall, WHICH was out of your power cuz you were fucked up. Thats just ONE of the hypothetical situations that could arise. wanna get owned again? "yeah tell me how stupid i am in wanting to legalize drugs" ok i will.

well now that every drug is legal, bad people have an excuse for their crimes. "why did you shoot that man and take his money?" ANSWER: "because i smoked to much pcp at the time and i didnt know what the fuck was going on, it just happened." now suddenly you have this man lying about drugs even though he was sober at the time that he murdered.

AWH YES, one gigantic cluster fuck.
and i like drugs, i dont have anything against them, if used properly they can be tonnes of fun, its just a stupid idea to legalize all of them.

^Sorry, us legalizers think that the only acceptable and reasonable drug limits are imposed by personal responsibility. The argument you put forth wouldn`t do a fucking thing for someone who got hammered and crashes a car, and it wouldn`t work for anyone else on any other drug. You shouldn`t be fucked up on mushrooms at the mall, and you shouldn`t be behind the wheel of a car drunk, cuz it`s a bloody stupid thing to do.

All we want is to take all that lovely money that going into the hands of scumbags, and give it to the other scumbags that can potentially do some good with it. Like start cheap and effective rehab centers, drug education that is relevant, and emptying out those ridiculously overcrowded prisons.

It`s not enough to just say, `It`s all legal now, that takes care of that problem.` you have to follow through in a huge way. With a little bit of compassion, and a bit more common sense, a lot of good can come from legalizing all drugs.

\/ Violet, like the flower, like the colour. Thx anyways tho...

Legalizing would help in so many ways:

1. Help beat the Taliban by removing their primary source of income.

2. Drastically reduce overdoses due to having pharmaceutical grade drugs.

3. Drastically reduce break and enters/muggings etc related with drug addicts needing to pay exhorbitant prices inflated by prohibition.

4. Take a huge chunk of organised crime profits, and thus power. Reduce gang violence eg: Tijuana!!!

5. Save money policing said narcotics; incarcerating drug dealers.

nerdicus, you somewhat missed the point, the lack of bein arrested for possesion wasnt the crime figure in the study that went down, it was the rate of drug related crimes e.g. theft, burgalary, muggings, assualts, fraud, shoplifting.
As some1 who works in retail i suffer because of the heroin addicts stealing from my store daily, this reduces my sales and increases my stock loss therefor taking money from MY bonus. theft is mainly covered in store by not paying out bonuses to staff, ne one who thinks theft from a national company only hurts the company is stupid!
yes we as the tax payer wud incure costs to keep these needle exchanges and heroin drop ins but we would also reap the benefits by having safer homes, streets and workplaces.
on the general legalization of drugs think about the tax benefits all these kids that are and will smoke pot will bring to society instead of some too bit dealer that sells from his bed sit.
the drugs will be controlled and safer, no more soapbar hash full of straw, diesel and turpentine, no more skunk sprayed with silica sand to weigh more and look more crystalised.
no more extacy pills or cocain full of what ever powder they can cut them with.
ppl will do drugs regardless which prohibition of them has proven time and time again so you msy aswell make them safer and take a cut for the tax man at the same time.
mass production on a federal level would all so hammer the costs down allowing the government to charge the same prices that ppl expect to pay now whilst taking a huge share for tax benefits helping society in massive ways.
we all know how readily available drugs are now yet not every1 does them so having them in licensed premises sold under control and effective education rather than some guy tellin ya to do this coz ya`ll feel a buzz is surely a better way to deal with the problem.

I`m mostly anti-substance personally, but honestly I`m for legalization. Hell if people wanted to inject draino into themselves I wouldn`t stop them. Who am I to tell someone else how they have to live their life, and what constitutes real happiness vs fake happiness.

And the crime related to these drugs, and the crowding in jails related to these drugs, are problems that would likely disappear. Yea some people will destroy their lives. Most of them would probably do it anyway. The vast majority would probably be careful about where they are doing what.

@Iachs:

1. you act like the u.s / north america is the only place on the planet that buys drugs. it wont eliminate taliban, they will legally sell now and make the same profit. not to mention, that they will still be mass producing it, wich is way more than the gov. would be producing so the illegal drugs will be WAYYYYYYYYYYYY cheaper.

2. people doing heroine dont want shitty heroine that isnt as strong and doesnt get you high, they will still buy the "GOOD SHIT" from regular dealers. isnt that obvious? oh ALSO,

(1.) - is od really a problem at ALL in our society? no, stop creating your own problems to solve.
(2.) - its called NATURAL SELECTION. people who die from heroine over dose dont really contribute too much to society and the only people crying after that is the dealer who lost business. smart people that we want in society dont do heroine or drugs that you can die from...

3. where does this happen? in the ghettos, simply solution: get a job, show some good work ethic, make your own life better and MOVE AWAY FROM THE FUCKING DRUG ADDICTS. ghetto fuck ups robbing other people in ghettos dont affect me. sorry. if you dont wanna be robbed then make your life better, its not impossible.

4. again, gangs will still be selling cheaper than the gov. so drug pushers wont lose business. theres always gunna be organized crime, dont fool yourself.

5. drug dealers SHOULD be in prison. they are obviously bad people who made bad decisions with their lives and rely on that shit for income. it doesnt matter if they sell or not, people that WOULD potentially sell narcotics (besides weed) should be in prison, not in society with the rest of the hard working citizens who are trying to make a life for themselves in honest ways.

i understand that im incredibly blunt in all my points, but people seem to forget that no matter what is legal or not, there will be people trying to exploit the system to make money in a dishonest way. bad people are bad people, drugs have nothing to do with it. it just so happens that bad people usually choose drugs, it wouldnt matter if they were legal or not.
