This is cool, but it`s also old news. I have a friend that works for NASA. They`ve already got a lunar base planned, but what they want to do with all that water is something NOT mentioned here in the video.

Much of the water on the moon is "heavy" water. It costs a LOT of money to make that here on earth, but it is in enormous supply on the moon. One of the first things we`re going to do with it is mine it.

We`re going to use this water for the next generation of nuclear reactors. These reactors will be times more efficient than our current day ones, and will leave little, if any, waste behind. This brings the cost of nuclear energy down even further.

So to sum it all up? It`s cheaper to mine heavy water from the moon than it is to make it here on earth. The water is a valuable resource for the things mentioned in the video as well, it`s just they didn`t mention "the rest of the story." Interesting stuff! Good post!

In reality, D2O is used in all fission reactors, your friend cant be very high up in NASA, is he a cleaner??

Heavy water isnt ahem made either it is refined from normal water, all water has a percentage of D2O.

Anyway to cut a long conspiracy story short, how is the use of heavy water refined from natural water on the moon going to compete with the refined heavy water on Earth???

Ya know how much it costs to transport 1 tonne of anything from the moon???

^Well, it`s a lot cheaper and less fail-prone than sending a drone down to take samples and chemically analyze it from there.

And c`mon, what could happen? Worried we might kill some plants and animals happily frolicking on the surface? Might we, with a few tons of metal, knock the moon out of orbit??
