I can see super processors and high end electronics made from diamonds. Cell Phones it wont be practical ever. There are a few world governments who`s money systems are based on the diamond standard. These countries include Russia and to a minor point England. Diamond Standard and Gold Standard arent too far off from each other. There is a reason why Russia has vast vaults filled with nothing but diamonds. It is because if they were to open those up to the market the value per carat would drop so fast our heads would spin. Now think about the cost that goes into making 1 diamond factoring in proprietary licensing and the limitations they have with needing laboratory like conditions to make them. It is good to imagine and dream just not practical in the least.

DeBeers is trying their best to kill this technology so they won`t lose their global monopoly on the diamond trade. Wired magazine did a great article on this back in 2003 http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.09/diamond.html

if i worked there, id leave those diamonds in that vacuum chamber for like a year, they`d all merge together, then out would pop a 1 kg block of diamond, then flee the country.
