Well if it was legal what do you think would happen to all those drug dealers and peddlers? I don`t smoke or drink, and I don`t like to be around people who do, but Vicious420 is absolutely right. Legalize the shit, put it behind the counter next to cigs and tax the fuck out of it. Then let out all the people who were locked up for being dope heads and help end the prison-industrial complex. It won`t eliminate the deficit outright but it`ll sure help.

all the dealers i know (and i know a lot) are normal non-violent people. and i`m not just talking about pot dealers. if you rip someone off, have sexy with their woman/man, talk shit about/to them, ect... then you`re bound to find trouble. doesn`t have to be this mythical TV land murderous drug dealer that puts you back in your place. more than likely, it`d be your own mom smaking that impudent look off your face.

just to clear the air...legalizing marijuana isn`t going to put any of those rapist motherfuckers you speak of out of business. All those dudes sell highly profitable drugs like coke and meth and heroin...the shit that you should be worried about. I doubt if the harder drugs are legalized that many labs will be popping up to make such life fucking substances...so the street game will still happen. Fact of the matter is though most drug arrests are for marijuana but with that out of the picture our police can finally look at whats important. People like bob marley felt cronic was a special thing and smoked all day and yet the only ill effect i could see is more love and the spreading of peace resumed. The government even censored bob because he was giving such a positive influence when they`ve been trying to feed you reefer madness.

@tootles -- I just prefer people who can form coherent thoughts. I don`t like drunks either. But don`t worry, I don`t conflate preference with law. The shit should be legal.

@token -- organized crime would be largely thwarted. One of the reasons we ended prohibition was to break down mob organizations, and for the most part, that`s exactly what happened. Sure, it`ll eventually form up elsewhere, but I doubt there`ll ever again be anything as mainstream as pot or alcohol that is also illegal.
