ORANGE, Conn. - A Connecticut police officer has resigned after being accused of posing as his twin brother to have sex with a woman.
Authorities in the town of Orange say police commissioners have accepted 25-year-old Jared Rohrig's resignation. Last month, Rohrig was charged with first-degree sexual assault and criminal impersonation in connection with the alleged incident in July.
Rohrig's lawyer says his client maintains his innocence and plans to plead not guilty to the charges when he appears in court again on Oct. 7.
The woman claims Rohrig, who lives in Milford, restrained her and continued the sexual encounter against her will once she realized he was not the person she thought he was and she attempted to leave.
