Power of the Tide

"The moon pulls the Pacific in the unending oceanic tide. But beneath the surface, life's abundancy is balanced finely. A fraction too warm, and the life providing corals can die too easily. From the BBC's documentary, Turtle's Guide to the Pacific."

^ya, thanks for the tip asshole.

I don`t understand why BBC america never plays programs like this. Practically all they air is 6 hours of back to back episodes of gordon ramsay`s f word, followed by 6 more hours of that show featuring britains worst fat asses on crash diets.

^ Cos BBC America is a business, who have a market research department, who found that the way they could get the most viewers, and thus the most advertising revenue, is by airing Gordon Ramsay instead of documentaries like these..

Nature becomes infinitely more interesting with deep voiced narration.

Wow... it starts out with the regular interesting information, then slaps you with the guilt trip at the end. Lame

^ Yeah, almost every damn nature show these days has to beat you over the head with how evil we humans are. Rare is the case when we are shown that nature and human nature are complexly intertwined with much of the outcome simply unavoidable. Some is bad, some is good, most of it just is...no different than the beaver, elephant or starfish impacting their environments.

^ I did not hear them say that the 1 or 2 degree change was due to humans. They probably say later in the episode that the change is due to solar and or geothermal change. lets not label them guilt-ists yet.

Well, a lot of lay people say "what does one or two degrees change in the global temp do? I, MYSELF, am not affected, so who cares?

Well? Reefs die, then fish die, then through the giant chain of the ecosystem... everything dies.

It would happen eventually anyway. It`s depressing to us humans because of our fear of death, but it`s likely that new corals resistance to temperature change will evolve at some point.
