Most movies nowadays are more reliant on specials effects and don`t worry about the story so much or especially the acting. That`s just my opinion.

Song is indeed Blue Man Group`s "Rods and Cones". Quite a few big ones missed and they completely ignored puppetry special effects (I guess "special effects" means computer generated effects only) as they overlooked the shockingly awesome The Thing.
