I wouldn`t believe this to be the actual details, since the document clearly says it`s prepared by the League of Women Voters of Arizona. There will be a bias in the preparation and interpretation of the actual information, but that`s just what I believe.

Beliefs aside, it`s a fact that single-payer is more efficient and provides universal coverage -- numerous nations have adopt it, and all of them spend less GDP and have a better mortality rate than the USA.

Sadly, it`s asking too much of America to make such a dramatic shift from private insurer to single-payer. Public option is the best we can hope for now, but ideally it`ll be a step towards single-payer in due time. There is an amendment to the bill that will allow states to start their own single-payer system should they so choose, which is exactly how Canada`s began.

Healthcare is broken and needs to be fixed...but giving the government more power is not the answer.

^ What he said. We need to reform healthcare not downgrade it to national healthcare

I was not aware of that. Thanks for pointing it out.

Bluelight & sh0wtyme: How do you propose to "reform" health care, then, without gov`t action? That`s what "reform" means. Health care without gov`t is exactly what we have now, and you both agree it doesn`t work. Single-payer does not give gov`t "more power," it just hands them the bill. Increased regulation of private insurers IS an increase in gov`t power, and will result in worse abuses than even today. Seriously, what ARE you proposing, then?

Regulation and "give me your money and we will be in charge of healthcare" are two very different things. Scary if you dont see that.
