My housemate told me about these beetles in Japan. Some are even kept as pets. The beetles and their wing parts were used to make a lot of sculptures and spiritual relics in Japan. They were hunted so much that some beetle species became nearly extinct. Eventually some of them turn incredibly valuable by pet collectors and such that if you happen to find and catch one, you might be able to sell it for a few thousand US dollars.

A beetle flew by my friend once when he was visiting Japan with his family. It just flew past his mom`s face and he noticed right away that it was one of those endangered species beetle. He runs and reaches out his hand really fast and caught it with blind luck. He wanted to sell it for a few hundred, but I think he kept it as a family pet in Japan. Not sure what he did it when he eventually return from his trip from Japan.
