he can`t take back the 23 years, but what will he get? seriously, i would fight for some kind of compensation if i were in prison for that long. i wouldn`t care if it`s considered rude or low, fuck, SOMEONE screwed up big and i would have paid for it. Hit them where it hurts, and get something to help my family with that have suffered for so long and make my life easier. that`s just bull shit man, bull shit.

The guy who got released for being wrongfully accused of sexual assault of a child looks like he got beat almost ever day in prison. I`m not trying to be rude or anything but he probably did and that`s fucked up.

^^Why is DirtDigger voted down? It seems like the most insightful sentiment yet. I`m not saying anything about the court system either way (partly because i`m aussie, not american, and our system is quite different) but it seems like the true benefit of increasing accuracy of forensic evidence is that the verdicts become more accurate, and that in the future a man like this will not be sent to jail in the first place. As for what happened to him, its highly unfortunate and yeah, it makes you feel a bit sad, and yes he has the right to seek compensation. But, you have to give the man credit for not convincing himself that he did it, or becoming a product of the system. You have to empathize with someone who has the perseverance and indomitable spirit to weather 23 years in jail, with everyone telling them they committed a crime they were innocent of.

Life is unfair, but we must see the joy in his new found freedom, 23 years lost, he understands that he can either be angry for the rest of his life or he can move on and try enjoy what he has left, some people are mistreated and we must try to look past the pain they have been through and see the happiness in the good things still to come their way.
