I`ve spent a lot more money on health care because of off my ass activities, playing rugby, riding bikes, and being a dumb ass than from ass siting related problems. Of course I cook most of my food from scratch, and don`t take fistfuls of pills every time I`m sad. Still a gross oversimplification of a big problem.

Actually what you eat has everything to do with cancer, diabetes, and many other diseases including being braindead. Studies have shown that a low fat vegetarian diet can CURE diabetes and many other health related problems having to do with food.(high cholestoral, diarea, urinary problems) The majority of people that have beaten cancer used a combination of healthy foods and exercise....go figure. Not to mention brain and body functions that NEED things like omega-3 and b vitamins to function properly.

PS. IF YOU DRINK DIET POPS WITH ARTIFICIAL SWEETENER!!! You are fucking stupid because everyone knows that a poison and has been PROVEN to cause cancer and many other things like lethargy and migraines. I cannot drink these sweeteners as they cause rashes, and give me a feeling of anxiety. It`s true, you are what you eat....I bet every health problem you have can be fixed with a good diet and knowledge of the BS somehow getting through health inspections!

Don`t believe me though I don`t care...your not going to get national health care anytime soon so stop being dumbasses and take care of yourself for once. Do you think your cool because you eat nothing but shit food? Nah you just look and feel like shit. I can see it on every face in that mcdonalds drive through....pimples....your sopposed to be over that after puberty AND studies also shown....teenagers that eat healthy rarely have bad acne and that right there reduces chances of scarring. /rant think about it though

Yes eating/exercising won`t cure every problem. But costs due to complications (heart attacks, diabetes, etc.) due to obesity costs billions and billions of dollars each year (100+ billion in 2000) and will cost even more in the future. This is not to mention the hundreds of billions more lost in productivity due to the general American lifestyle. The obesity crisis has long overtaken smoking and everything else combined as the number one "health crisis". There is no doubt following this would save billions and billions and billions of dollars.

But this isn`t a simplification of the health care crises. It has nothing to do with it. There`s a difference between the "health crisis" and the "health care crisis". The health care crises has to do mostly with the inefficiency and general disarray of the health care system itself brought upon and kept that way by very rich and entrenched interests (ie. insurance) and impending retirement of millions of baby boomers who are simply getting old and the massive costs it will take to take care of them.

The health crises is one thing. The "health care crises" is mostly a political and economical issue.

If we could solve the "health crises", we would be able to save a good chunk of money. Unfortunately the "health care crises" is on an entirely more massive scale altogether, it`s a very systemic and dangerous problem that may not have direct impacts now, but will very likely destroy our economy in the years to come if nothing is done about it.

Why don`t you and set up a clinic that claims to cure diabetes with a low fat vegen diet? We`ll see how fast the FDA shuts you down.

You know, this whole health care thing has only become a big issue because the U.S. is the only industrialized, developed country to not have universal health care. It`s hard when the U.S. gets b*tchslapped by so many countries in such an obvious way. However, I do have a solution for all you Americans: Blame Canada!
