Fight Back Against Health Insurance Lies

What does UnitedHealthcare CEO Stephen Hemsley have to lose if Congress passes real health care reform this year? Well, for starters, his nearly three quarters of a billion dollars in un exercised stock options might lose a few pennies on the dollar.

When anything is run by a corparation is main aim is to make money, and healtcare shouldnt be about making money, its about making sure EVERYONE has access to the medical things that they need, and not have to work until they drop so they can afford the medicine that they need.

Lefties, righties...This ideoligical slug-fest is getting you guys nowhere. The fact is, you NEED a public healthcare system.
France, Belgium, Japan, Germany, Australia, UK, etc all have Publicly-funded healthcare. This should be a pillar for ANY firstworld nation and aparently your the world superpower too..
I just dont get why you dont demand one, but why you fight it is beyond my understanding of American politics.

^ Its because my wonderful country spends almost a 3rd of its tax revenue on "defense" or military spending... Where as those countries spend their 3rd on healthcare.

This is half and half though, if the medical supplies weren`t so expensive maybe it wouldn`t be so hard to have insurance companies pay for them. Or perhaps if there was no other option the people could afford to pay for it themselves. Like that little boy who needed that foam helmet. God knows how expensive that thing is... Granted though he makes WAY too much money. Hopefully we`ll get some sort of healthcare reform here soon...

When you have that much money, you just don`t give a shit about stuff, I`m sure most of us would do the same in his situation. He`s completely disconnected from other ppl`s reality.

If only the dumbass, redneck, birther/deather, racist, bastards of this country who keep yelling and screaming their lungs off during the various health care discussions currently going on would shut up... for one second....

If only EVERY right wing nut job conservative commentator of this country would walk themselves off a cliff!

-Glenn Beck
-Bill O`Reilly
-Rush Limbaugh
-Lou Dobbs
-Michael Savage
-Michelle Malkin (Someone inform her that she is not white and that those who support her are merely pandering to her in order to later on claim that they are not racist since they have a brown-skinned woman who is "one of them".)

etc...

The list goes on and on!

Please, for the sake of the well-being of our species, REMOVE YOURSELVES FROM THIS REALM OF EXISTENCE!

Look you people do realize that this video is very heavily skewed. Dont blame health insurance companies its a problem with the whole health care system. From doctors to hospitals to pharma to med device companies.

THe problem is that we are a treatment system not a cure system. This is because a treatment system they all keep making more money by just treating you for the same thing over and over again, instead of curing you of your problem.

@Rekon:

Most Americans that I`ve spoken `against` on how they can support a private health care system is because they do not want to pay the medical treatment that others need. Which of course, is a major downfall of any progressive society.

It`s just really a matter of sheer ignorance. I was never a Republican supporter, but I did believe in some of their core ideals. However, as they stand now with all the movement they are charging up to try to undermine the massive responsibility and mess that the president is trying to fix, as well as improve and rebuild on, I am disgusted with these simpletons that go against an unified health care system.

I may not support every choice President Obama makes, but so far, he`s stepping up to the plate and doing his best to replenish the livelihood of the nation as a whole. So as far as you right-wing, religious nut jobs goes, why don`t you do all of us - Americans and the world a favor and go shove your heads into your asses and leap off a cliff somewhere. We don`t need anymore of your kind to go further screw everyone else up.

Some really good points here - ieatpinkmuff is really correct. There is a real conflict of interest going on between private pharmaceutical companies and the patients (customers). Of course their main goal isn`t to cure people. That`s total BS - it`s to make profit at your expense!!

Hell, even the doctors in the UK are sponsored by certain manufacturers in pushing their drugs - which are of course usually for treatments rather than for cures.

Bottom line is, some things (public transport, health care) cannot be run for profit as they will end up being really, really crap. These things need to be properly funded by the tax payer with no conflict of interests from shareholders etc.

I also hate staunchly conservative politicians (not just in the US but everywhere) - it is so clear that they only wish to retain the old status quo because they made so much money from it. It sickens me to my very core...

Thank God I live in Australia. It is by NO means perfect. In fact I`d go so far as to say a shambles in many regards but at least we:

have Government funded prescription medication
have tight laws on advertising of prescription medication
can visit a doctor for free
can visit a hospital for free

I pay a little bit extra per year to a private insurer because I can afford it and the public system should be for those in need.

lol damn theres a lot of liberals on this site

Not everyone who is against healthcare reform is a "nutjob"

If the government couldn`t even distribute water after Katrina, why would you want that same government distributing healthcare?

Y`all should look up Ron Paul and Rand Paul and listen to their points on healthcare reform. We need to reform healthcare but just not the way Obama is doing it.

Especially when Obama sneaks extras into the bill like end-of-life consulting for old people, and real-time access to our individual bank accounts (seriously?)
