Profiting on human suffering? Eventually, all of us will suffer at the hands of old age. The difference is who will flip the bills. If you believe someone should pay for all the suffering because they owe society something for being rich. then you should ask yourself, who were the ones responsible for creating all the jobs, give you better choice on your cable tv, or offer you better food while lowering cost. You think helping someone with 10 kids who doesn`t have a job get health care at the expense of everyone else is noble?

^^Flynn, "The difference is who will flip the bills."

Yes, well, considering that the top 5% wealthiest Americans own about 95% of America, I would say that the other 95% of Americans can no longer afford to pay the bills. And considering that this EXTREME IMBALLANCE is a matter of wholesale theft and corruption, not a matter of honest superiority or hard work, I think they owe it back. And if they don`t like it, then they should FUCK OFF, and leave the place to more honest folks. Let the mega rich move somewhere else, I`m sure there are enough good folks to take over their jobs.

Sorry, but out of one side of your mouth you will complain about the bailout and the bonuses, all the fatcat corruption, and then on the other side you will complain about the real victims of a society gone to the mafia, the poor. It doesn`t add up.

Socialized medicine is technically no different from any other insured medicine. It simply substitutes all of us as the shareholders, so that we can decide NOT to reap egregious profits from our own ill health. Or should we privatize fire fighting and policing next? Why not? If your house burns down, your insurance can pay the entire cost of putting it out. The private insurance companies can make huge profits. They can hire a few people, dump risky applicants, and when you call 911, you better have your insurance number handy.

^ exploder, it is because of government mandates that insurance companies become the way they are today. My friends worked at New York State cannot get insurance coverage from other states even though other states price is lot cheaper. It is the state government`s policy to prohibit lowering cost. And you want more government?

Anyone who has studied the subject can tell you there are enormous difference between socialized health care and private health care. First of all, if you abolish free market system and impose price control, you`re going to get less and less supply at the same cost. Furthermore, the law of supply and demands works everywhere. Turn the price up, there will be less demand, turn the price to zero, demand will be skyrocketed. In the U.S there are 2.4 doctors per 1000 people, you do the math. Secondly, government run system does not have any incentive to get better; it is basically a monopoly that will not go away. and last, no one could plan at any time, anywhere to decide what`s the most cost affective way to treat a patient. Only choices guarantee lowering cost of medical bills and better care and it is the responsibility of the individual who has to balance these choices. do you really want to elect someone to decide what is the best for you?

^It`s the governments fault health care is the way that it is?? A congressional committee just found that the practice of rescission(canceling coverage when paying customers get expensive diseases) that has saved CEO`s, with billions of dollars in their own company`s stocks, hundreds of millions of dollars was in fact in violation of federal laws. They didn`t make plans to do anything about it, they just asked the CEO`s if they would stop breaking the law, and they all said no. Sounds like the government is doing far to little to me.

^ that does not mean every thing from now on should be put in charge by the government. The fact that the government fail to prosecute any them is a sign of how corrupt the current system is.

^ So here`s the point: why do we have governments at all? Why not just pure anarchy?

Answer: because there are some things that private interest can`t take care of. There are interests that WE ALL SHARE. That`s why we have government and laws.

It seems that the current situation is EXACTLY PROOF that if you leave some things to private enterprise, they fail. In your own words:

"The fact that the government fail to prosecute any them is a way of showing how corrupt the current system is."

And how, pray tell, did it get corrupt?

BECAUSE OF GREED YOU FOOL! THAT`S WHAT PRIVATE ENTERPRISE DOES!

Look at the American economy. Did it get that way because 95% percent of Americans are all just losers? NO! It got that way because 5% are greedy fuckers, who are violently in control.

I suggest you have two choices:

1. Realize the cause, form an honest government, socialize medicine, and shield yourselves from this permeating greed.

2. Continue your decent into the anarchic abyss of greed gone wild.

^ I am not advocating anarchy, I am advocating choice. it seems you have a problem not understanding the fundamental of free enterprise and the spirit of individual freedom. Let me ask you Who decides who deserves more? Who decides who is more greedy than the others? Do the top 5% of population all belong to a royal lineage of with massive amount of wealth or is it because some of them actually choose to have a better live and work hard to make it happen? Where can I find these government that rewards virtues?

Ah, good discussion going on. The way I see it, private health care shouldn`t be abolished if a public health care policy is implemented. That is the government monopolizing an industry, and to me private sector competition is necessary.

Honestly, the general truth is that the private sector does is a better job than the government (although certainly not always true). Hell, I like being able to choose from USPS, UPS, Fedex, etc. when shipping stuff. I`ll use USPS most of the time, but for somethings I`ll always use a commercial carrier.

^^ Flynn, "it seems you have a problem not understanding the fundamental of free enterprise and the spirit of individual freedom."

I understand them just fine and to the largest degree I am wholeheartedly for these principles. But I also see what happens when the spirit of individual freedom runs amok with greed, and is not held in ballance with the needs of society at large.

I restrain my owm actions, to maintain fairness to the absolute best of my ability.

I also expect to be left alone to do what I will, so long as I harm none.

This is the ballance that has OBVIOUSLY not been struck in the US.

The actions of those 5% most wealthy in your country have become fundamentally destructive to your country. Your current economic crisis is the current living proof. By corruption and unchecked excessive greed, you are self destructing.

Unless you learn to understand some sensible ethical limits to your own success, it will be your undoing.

Great... wait I thought you`re the one who advocate spending other people`s money on a "social program." how is that balance to people who don`t want to pay for it. So you mean like it`s okay if it`s balanced the way you want it right? Oh by the way, did you know the economic crisis is caused by the mal-investment of excessive credits originated by government`s policy to control banks to lend money to people who have no means to pay it back.
