Private Contractors Replace Troops In Ir...

Without a visible end to the falacious war, conventional troops are being replaced by hired ones. Contractors are not subject to the same guidelines as our soldiers, and thus, have not been held accountable for the misdeeds they have afflicted upon civilian populations in the past. Military = + Money. Citicenship = No Home.

Furthermore I always wondered what`s the motivation of a person not to join a private company instead of the army aside from the ignorant nationalist ideal. Why don`t they join something the French Foreign Legion? I mean you get better training, better toys, more money. If you wanna become a soldier why not become enroll with the best rather than entering a bureaucratic system with a vague agenda that treats you like cannon fodder?

^ It`s my understanding that most already have previous military experience, many of them in special operations.

They get paid WAY better (Blackwater pays up to $1000 PER DAY, more than a FOUR STAR GENERAL MAKES), they don`t have to follow a military-like chain of command, they can quit whenever they want, they can pick and choose their assignments, they are (to some degree) allowed to use their own equipment as opposed to cheaper/less reliable military issue equipment, they are given considerably more discretion concerning their actions abroad, they aren`t necessarily held to the military`s rules/regulations/code of conduct, they get to travel the world...

It`s actually a pretty good deal, aside from its questionable morality and extremely hazardous nature.

Yes but we need these people We have worked with contract workes in about every war we were in i think we had guys in japan after we drop 2 bombs on japan to help rebuild the bottom line is we dont have the man power to send guys in to fight the taiban and insurgents and do bodyguard / supply delivery and security work for VIP.as you said 90% of these guys are ex military and been in places like this before but yes we should also have rules to hold them acount as the military guys for there actions. they get paid more because this is like a JOb and not a serve your country join the military thing

These people are absolutely necessary. They provide badly needed security, they`re not offensive troops.

Emasculated pansies looking for something to cry about.

Why would someone would join the army over a private company such as blackwater?

Let`s just say that many people believe that their moral values are not for sale.

They fail to mention that under the rules of the Geneva Convention that any military contractors are not allowed to engage in offensive combat or they are considered unlawful combatants. I`m sure a few of them do things they shouldn`t do, but so does any regular military, and for the most these guys are there as support and defense.

If companies operating in Iraq need to secure their operations, some fat guy with a flashlight and mace aint gonna cut it. Every house hold in Iraq is allowed one AK-47.

And of course they`re held accountable. That`s like saying that illegal Mexican immigrants aren`t held accountable to laws in the U.S......oh wait.

yea so we wash are hands. while we send a bunch of rednecks who are often recruited by these organizations, to deal with the problems of a crippled fledgling nation. let`s see how this turns out. Sounds like a very bad Jeff Foxworthy joke. You might be a redneck if you enlist in a Mercenary-like organization just to kill some towel-heads! I think we should pull out and allow them (the Iraqi army) to take over. we supply weaponary and aid and they should be able go in the right direction.
