Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Trailer

Director Terry Gilliam was not happy with the way the studio promoted his film. He felt they made it appear as a wacky comedy.

What a Great movie and novel, and I agree the trailer makes the movie out to be a comedy which it is at times but it`s not the true, deeper meaning of the film...“Tune In, Turn On, Drop Out”

"We are all wired into a survival trip now. No more of the speed that fueled that 60’s. That was the fatal flaw in Tim Leary’s trip. He crashed around America selling “consciousness expansion” without ever giving a thought to the grim meat-hook realities that were lying in wait for all the people who took him seriously. All those pathetically eager acid freaks who thought they could buy Peace and Understanding for three bucks a hit. But their loss and failure is ours too. What Leary took down with him was the central illusion of a whole life-style that he helped create. A generation of permanent cripples, failed seekers, who never understood the essential old-mystic fallacy of the Acid Culture: the desperate assumption that somebody – or at least some force – is tending the light at the end of the tunnel." -Hunter S. Thompson

one of the best movies made. Even Hunter`s funeral was batshit crazy just like the man. If there was ever a celebrity to mourn on a world scale its Hunter.

Nevermind, instead we should glorify a pedofile black/white robot who dangles his children off of balconies. What was I thinking?

"The trunk of the car looked like a mobile police narcotics lab. We had two bags of grass, 75 pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers . . . and also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of Budweiser, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls."

Just if anyone was curious.

The first time I saw this film I really didn`t think of it as a comedy more as a trully chilling experience. Of course overtime I started liking the film, and right now I can say its one of the greatest films I`ve seen.

The thing that makes this movie so fantastic for me is the how realistic they portrayed the drugs in the movie such as lsd and the behaviors, it`s still unlike any other drug oriented movie. They hit the actions spot on, and when you`ve been fucked up on multiple drugs shit like this happens especially the CALM THE FUCK DOWN session in the bathroom at the hotel that del`toro went through, although if you took that much LSD at once you would most certainly need to be locked up for a good 24 hours at least lol (spoken from experience)

In fairness, it`d be quite hard to edit it to make it look like anything other than a wacky comedy.

The film is decent although i feel it`s more wacky than funny. However, I IMPLORE YOU TO READ THE BOOK. It`s one of the most hysterical, sordid and outrageous books i`ve ever read, and i`d go as far as saying it`s one of the classic 20th century novels.

^ I do agree that it would be hard to make a trailer for this movie and it is so "out there". But man the song choice for the trailer was horrid. JUST HORRID! But non the less it is an amazing movie and the book is just unreal.
