Now only one question they should have brought up, why do the japaness need these love hotels? dont have room at home? a secret date? trying to be romantic? or just a nice place to sleep when your too drunk?

Not that I dont know this myself, but most people are unfamiliar with the japaness ways of thinking about sex and such :P

Japanese homes are a little smaller than western homes. that, coupled with the fact that multiple generations of families may share the same home, leads to little privacy to be intimate with your wife/girlfriend. Love hotels are a cheap and easy way to have some private time.
If you looked at the sign it said in English "rest/stay" a rest is three hours usually, and a stay is an overnight or 8 hour stay.
