I`m Czech, so I will try to shed some light on this issue: The one who was slapped (Rath) said that the other one (Macek) married his wife only because she had money and that he is amoral. To this, Macek replied, that he will sort it out with Rath by hand. Indeed he did.

Currenty, the Czech Republic has a huge problem with Rath and his boss Paroubek (head of the Czech Social Party) because of their populist and communistic ideas. They are trying to get votes from the stupid and narrow-minded people by saying that they will pass a millionaire tax law of 35%, raise the welfare allowance (or how do you call it) and blah blah other stupid ideas that won`t stimulate our economy at all and lead us back to the place we were 20 years ago.

Sadly, I live in a country, where a lot of people like these ideas, driven by their envy of the more intelligent and skillful. But I guess that it`s because of the last regime still buried in these people and that we will have to wait for this generation to die out before something really changes.

i find this ok

being public figures and in goverment it seems adequate that they settle this openly

but if they reprensent a bad party... they should just choke themselves

I think a higher rate of tax for the very rich is a good idea. In the UK we have a top tax band of 40% for earnings over about £35K, so don`t see that 35% for millionaires is such a big deal (though I realise a millionaire in koruna isn`t the same as a millionaire in pounds).

I agree that we need incentives for people to work hard and be innovative, but I don`t think the majority of the rich get to where they are by being intelligent and skillful. I would prefer to have a bit less personal income if it means living in a society with good services and where everyone has enough to live with dignity.

Also I don`t know anything about these guys policies but higher tax in itself isn`t communistic, unless they`re wanting the state to take control of the factories and centralise ownership of the means of production.
