I`m like any fan you get excited thinking (who) you might bring in and you know being involved (just)because you`re a player instead exactly the same as the man on the street yeah you picking up the paper hopefully you`re gonna win so you`ve signed ...

oh god i give up, a voice only a mother could love

"I`m like any fan, you get excited thinking who you might bring in, and... you know, being involved, just because you`re a player you`re still exactly the same as the man on the street... you`re, you`re picking up the paper hopefully you`re gonna... see you`ve signed someone, but I think this summer there`s been a bit of speculation about maybe players moving on, so at the moment I`m just hoping that, er... that doesn`t happen, rather people come in, I mean we`ve got a great side, we`ve got a great squad at the moment, I`m sure the manger is gonna make a couple of additions but, we certainly don`t want to lose anybody.

We`ve never really had as good a challenge ever under Rafa [Rafael Benítez], er... in the 5 years he`s been here, so to do that, and... and to get 86 points, beat Man United twice, Chelsea twice an... and still not win the league is, is probably a disappointment, but I think we can look on back on it and say "You know, it`s definitely a progression" but, now there`s only one more, er... progression for us now otherwise we`ve had either gone back or stood still so there`s, you know, the only... we all realise that there`s... there`s only one place for us to go now."

*Takes a bow*

i am australian and i understood that almost entirely and we dont have dialects anywhere near that over here so i have not been exposed to it before very much, trills his r`s quite well, if you cant understand that you are probably an ignorant american, its not bad english just heavy accent, american english/speach is far more a bastardisation of the english language than what most poms speak.

^ I couldn`t understand some parts because the guy mutters when he talks, the accent just makes it a little bit harder.

I have to agree with slipper. There is nothing wrong at all just the accent is thick. I even find it easier to understand his accent than it is to understand some accents from the US like in Chicago, New York or Texas.

Now, we`ve talked about this. People from Liverpool and Newcastle aren`t allowed to talk fast, especially not to foreigners. When they go supersonic like that it`s like their own little language. Literally they can talk smack about you to your face and you`ve no idea what they`re saying. So they`re under strict instructions to talk slowly to us. This man`s dog-eared soliloquy is an unacceptable lapse in form and I shall inform the Queen of it at once.

Westcoast Canadian here,and no real problems understanding that. I might have missed 4% of the words when he was mumbling.

But I grew up On British Comedies.

Just because someone doesn`t understand what he`s saying doesn`t make them less intelligent. The only thing you can say for sure is they are less cultured. Accents are hard to listen to and understand if you haven`t had much exposure to em...

That being said I caught about half of what he said...The other half either he mumbled or I missed due to me still being groggy

@InsayneJayne
I actually noticed the title of this video had changed. Just because the mods don`t like them I don`t think they should be changed from what the original poster had put up.

I understand there are circumstances where they MUST be changed, like when sexually inappropriate, but this was not the case here. This site thrives due to the humorists and the conversation generated here. If you are editing titles that don`t need to be edited (and tags for that matter), you are taking away from what makes this site unique.

@Slipper
I only understood this guy when he was talking slow. That doesn`t make me stupid or ignorant. That means I have never heard a guy talk even close to this fast before and have no experience with it. This is not the same as ignorance. If you have an accent that is more similar to this guy`s than I do, of course you are going to understand him better. Just like how other people posted they have trouble understanding some American accents... I understand them all very clearly, that doesn`t make them `dumb and ignorant` brits or paussies.

You`ll find it shocking that most Brits, Canadians, New Zealanders and Australians can understand the thickest American accents but Americans can`t understand theirs.

Where is the disconnect? Is it the group who can understand all forms of English or the group that cannot understand the peculiarities of the others? American English is very exclusive and certain words are simply not accepted whereas the above mentioned groups will accept all forms of "bastardized" words and slang.

Is it better to accept and tolerate all English or to make it exclusive and hold it to a standard?

@Grothesk
Not sure you are correct there...
-Alaska
-North west
-North east
-mid west
-south west
-south
-Texas
Each of these regions has a significantly different accent and set of `unique` words not used anywhere else. There is no exclusivity in American English.
