There`s a huge difference between mimicry and reasoning. The orangutan obviously has no clue about the purpose of what it is imitating.

Comparing humans to apes/monkeys is like comparing a powerwheels toy car to a real dodge viper. They both have similar looks, movement, and basic elemental parts. But the difference between the complexity and functionality of each is enormous. Apes/monkeys have no where near the intellect of humans. We are far beyond anything else on this planet.

If you don`t believe me then maybe you should eat a nice big shroom and get to know what you are made of...

^^ You`re definitely on the dot. Humans are not a product of mother nature. To even think so is an insult to her.

^ of course we`re a product of "mother nature". nobody created people, and what we are today is just a 100,000 year chemical reaction taking place in the flask that is Earth.

and what is this about nature being " her" ? stop personifying shit,
what`s with the new trend of teenagers thinking its cool to bash on humans ? u know how much mother fucking technology rocks? live in the forest for a week , see how awesome mother nature is.

Imitation and mimicry are the primary methods of learning and the foundation for reasoning. How do you think babies and children learn? By imitation.

They learn to speak by imitation. They listen, and then attempt to copy it. This is how "braininess" develops.

And imPo, I`m not sure what you`re implying per se, but in any case your claim is outright incorrect. We are a part of nature, and always have been.

Budzilla means that this is straight imitation that will not develop into an understanding of the tools anytime soon. babies eventually figure out what a hammer is for, this ape won`t ever realize that the hammer and nail is for building some, not just a hammer for hitting a nail just for the sake of hitting a nail

Everything is a part of nature. But we are `separate` from the other parts of nature, as humans role on this earth has been to dominate everything else on it (which we have been doing quite well). And like ragnarok said imitation/pattern recognition does not lead to reasoning/understanding on its own. It is comparable to a computer taking video and photos and replaying them. The software to actually understand what the objects are and their relationships in the photo is far far more involved and complex than the software to playback the photo/video.
