Demotivational - Creationists

Human VS Gorilla skeleton. Why does the idea of a common ancestor sounds so absurd to them?

I know. But otherwise it`s too complicated for the creationists to bother trying to understand.

I`m not calling them dumb, I`m calling them intellectually lazy. They don`t even bother informing themselves because just believing in the simplest explanation is easier for them. You can tell in most of their "arguments" that they don`t even understand the theory of evolution. And there are tons of articles explaining the theory of evolution and showing supporting evidence available everywhere in libraries and the Internet but they don`t bother reading them. As soon as they see a long text they close their minds and say "fuck that, I ain`t reading that". A bit like most of the idiots who will vote this comment down without even reading it.

There are enough explanations and evidence out there so adding more argumentation won`t change crap. This picture is not a scientific argument. It is a way to get them off their guard before they close their minds and spark curiosity in their mind. And maybe, just maybe one or a couple of them will decide to seek information about the theory of evolution because of that and will realize how the religious leader they were listening to was full of crap and had no idea of what he was talking about.

Creationism is absurd.

But let`s be honest evolution doesn`t make all that much more sense.

I`m an evolutionist myself, but I do hate how most evolutionists think they know how everything came to be. Let`s just assume that our (the evolutionists) side of the argument is correct and we started as single cell organisms. How did those single cell organisms get there? There had to be a first, and they had to come from something before that. What made the first life form? This is the point where most evolutionists start making things up. But it is rather childish to say someone else is wrong when you don`t know the real answer yourself. I don`t believe in traditional creationism, but I`m certainly not about to tell someone to "get a clue" on a subject I don`t know the truth about either.

As a scientist myself, I know that evolution of entities is essential for survival. However, like Vega, I agree we can never know what "started it all". Personally, I`m a believer in Aristotle`s Metaphysics: that
1. There is something moving.
2. Everything that moves is put into motion by something else.
3. But this series of antecedent movers cannot reach back infinitely.
4. Therefore, there must be a first mover (which is a being capable of existing thru time, IE God).
That`s what I believe, because it makes sense to ME. But it doesn`t to everyone...I don`t understand why people insist on saying that their way "is the best"...

This new trend of atheists and evolutionists trying to impress their views upon everybody else on the internet is getting real old real fast. If your beliefs don`t hurt me and mine don`t hurt you, then who cares? Believe what you want to believe and I`ll believe what I want to believe, get the fuck over it already.

@phanto, to me your post seems both stereotypical and hypocritical. You`re saying that creationists are lazy minded and have never studied the theory of evolution, but have you ever studied the theory of creation or any other religion yourself? Or do you just believe what you have been told?

^ Working back up the List

@ M3t4,

"but have you ever studied the theory of creation"

- You show your own ignorance here...there is no "theory" of creation. Not in a scientific sense anyway, which is what you are suggesting by comparing it to the theory of natural selection.

"If your beliefs don`t hurt me and mine don`t hurt you, then who cares?"
-No one...but often religious belief does hurt those who don`t believe in it. It is important to continually remind those of a religious persuasion that they could be wrong and they do not hold "truth".

@Vega and Sds,

Read up on abiogenesis. Its more than likely the correct theory on the origins of life. There was even a great video recently on Spiked about how the tests on it are working out recently.

Sds, the prime mover "argument" is poor logic, and even worse science. I`m sure if you are a scientist you already know the problems with it.

@that1guy,

Evolution actually makes a ton of sense if you bother to try and understand it. It is by leaps and bounds the best of possible answers.

@Amendment IX,

I`m not actually sure what your problem is with the humorous poster. It is not claiming to be definitive proof, so what is actually wrong with it?

@ M3t4lBa5si5t
I`ve listened to many of their arguments and "proof" videos.

Most of the creationists I`ve discussed with or heard from don`t understand the principles of rational thinking (for example some of them rely on circular logic and don`t understand why it is not a good thing and/or rely on extremely doubtful "evidences" but they think that they are irrefutable).

Otherwise they are simply not informed enough on what they are talking about. I admit that I`m no evolution expert but I know that a person who say something like "how come evolution exists, I`ve never seen a monkey giving birth to a human" is someone who has no idea of what he`s talking about.

And that being said I`ve even spent more than an hour listening to that guy`s "logical evidence of God" at the Atheist Experience show to really understand his argument. And it was flawed too.

To author of picture. If it hasn`t or can`t be proven, its not fact. Evolution makes sense in may ways, but also fails in many others. Maybe one day you can justify being a pompous ass, but until then have an open mind or you will never know the truth.

^ Actually, Evolution is a "fact" in the same way Gravity is a fact.

http://talkorigins.org/faqs/evolution-fact.html

It just happens to also be the name most attributed to the theory as well. The theory part comes in with Natural Selection and mate selection :)

Gravity is not a fact. It is a theory... at least until they either prove the existence of a graviton, or at least unify the matter-energy chain... so you may as well say that evolution is not a fact, but neither is gravity, and when you float away from the Earth`s surface, you may then start laughing at me. Until then, stop braying that your God made you perfectly, wearing the latest fashion`s hats.

^ Yes Vuarra, They are both as strong as you can get in science without being math as I understand it.

The problem is people accept Gravity as fact, but not evolution, when both are the same in scientific terminology.

But you are still a bit wrong. Even if we find that the theory of gravity is wrong, we would be unlikely to re-label the term. We would probably say, We need a new way/theory to explain "gravity"...we wouldn`t say that things no longer fall towards massive bodies.

Same with evolution. Evolution happens. Proof is everywhere.
If one day we find out that the theory is wrong, we won`t get rid of evolution, but rather the mechanism that explains the how behind it.

i can debunk christianity with homosexuality. In all sections of christianity they look down upon homosexuality and believe it is a sin. Lone and behold science has enlightened us that homosexuality is a common in nature happening in most if not all species. Remember god created...everything. Now what your telling me is god is a moron that creates things that he hates and thinks you deserve to go to hell for. Well if this is true...your god would be considered mentally sick as this qualifies basically as animal abuse.

Why do mammals from impala in Africa to polar bears in Canada, kangaroos in Australia, deer, elk, monkeys, gorillas... Why do they all still have fur, regardless of climate, and we don`t? Why would we evolve to be inferior and vulnerable, to have a need for clothing and heat sources? Not to mention physically weaker, clumsier... I know someones going to say "our brains are superior, so we can make clothes, etc..." But before our brains reached that point, why would we begin to take on a less efficient posture, and loose our ability to handle harsh climates?

And for tokentiki^ : The purpose of sex is reproduction. Evolution should have or has fine tuned our methods of reproduction, right? Gays can`t reproduce, their flawed genetics should have been left behind long ago. Long ago like in the first stages of life on earth. like when there was just single cell organisms or whatever.
