A 50-year-old blind man has his collar felt by police - for a series of driving offences.
George Day from Birmingham, who was blinded at the age of seven when a brick hit him on the head, originally thought the whole thing was a practical joke, reports the Daily Telegraph.
He said: "A friend who I was staying with phoned me at work to say police were looking for me and had a warrant for my arrest to do with driving offences. I thought it was an April fools joke at first."
The real offender has never been found. Mr Day was fuming at how he was treated by police. "I spoke to officers on the phone and told them I can't drive because I am blind but they said they would have to pick me up the following day to take me to court," said the Birmingham's City College switchboard operator.
"It was obvious someone has used my name and address. I was annoyed that somebody had taken advantage and used my details."
He was marched to the magistrates court last Friday where he had to make a declaration that police had picked up the wrong man. He had to arrange his own solicitor, book time off work and police didn't even take him home after the hearing.
"The court said that should be the end of the matter, but I didn't get an apology," he added.
