I despise this movie. I vividly remember seeing it in the theater when it was originally released, and it ruined my day. Everything about it is ill-conceived and poorly executed. Just godawful BAD. That description is perfect.

Some Disney or in this case Bluth, films can be very dark if you put it in the right perspective

The Little Mermaid: A girl sells her soul to the devil for a pussy, hoping to get laid.

The Lion King: An orphaned prince is summoned by the ghost of his dead father to seek revenge against the brother that overthrew him. *cough* HAMLET *cough*

Robin hood: Vigilante socialist attacks royal power to give handouts to prisoners.

An American Tail: A Young mouse after seperated from his family is emotionally and psychologically tortured for almost the whole movie.

Follow that Bird: Rebellion against the forced relocation of orthnological species, leaves one bird with no home, completely lost, and imprisoned by those who exploit his assumed character traits yet have no knowledge of what his potential truly consists of.

See even you cane make Follow That Bird sound dark. Its all on how you sell it.
