Wow. I had no idea that the history of Marijuana was this deep and long. I know it was legal pre-80`s, but I had no idea that it had been in the US since...well, its conception.

For the first helf of the video it would be more realistic to say "hemp", vice marijuana...it was used to make rope, which was an essential industry. Since early sailing ships used tons of rope, it`s no surprise that crews sailed with a supply of seeds.

Combining the issues of hemp as a crop vs. marijuana as a drug doesn`t help either argument.

^Cannabis my friend, it`s all Cannabis. Either way you look at it, it is not a drug, it`s a plant. And if you really think the farmers then only grew it for hemp without enjoying it`s many other benefits your crazy. They would us the oil in cooking and for medicinal uses and many farmers would smoke it after a long day of working the crops. In fact smoking it and using it in food and as medicine predates its use for clothes, textiles, ropes, and fishnets. It was slated to take over the paper industry and the war on "Marijuana" began with slurs in the newspaper owned by the fat cats that stood to loose millions should hemp take over.

I always have to giggle when I hear Washington referred to as a "tobacco" farmer. And you`ll nary hear a reference to the Constitution itself being printed on hemp paper.
