Ron Paul`s always surprising me with his useful knowledge (that most people often forget) of events in history that can guide us through current national problems!

5/5

Secession would have to happen during some sort of revolution. Secession couldn`t just occur in a democracy because people couldn`t come to an agreement. Lincoln wrote about this a great deal.

One thing we have to ask ourselves: Is there a difference between revolution and secession? That somewhat depends. I imagine they could be one and the same or two different things. If the US had a revolution we may topple our government and re-instate a new one or freshen up the old one.

OR we could have an incident like we did with the Confederate States of America. And that was a huge mess that still hasn`t been resolved completely. It`s just an ugly subject whose battle-lines constantly shift and change depending on the content of the discussion.

Fuck, even writing this was painful. But I hope it also broadened some thinking.

I like how he says once it crashes. It`s coming. Be ready. Be organized. don`t give in to federal bullshit. Be Americans in the true sense of the word, and keep this nation afloat with our own hands.

While I agree with Ron Paul on many aspects he is also very dangerous because he`s very smart and sounds like he know what he is talking about.

He has a lot of dangerous old school Republican ideals.

One of them being less involvement of the government. Which sounds like a good thing but is far more dangerous than people realize.

We find ourselves in this shitty economy mainly due to a lot of deregulation in the financial district. Government oversight is key. Capitalism is not a perfect system. It can easily be exploited simply by lending money that isn`t there. Also, due to the fact large sums of capitol actually increase their own worth.

All these aspects need to be controlled.

Also, our health care system could use a lot of oversight and more government involvement.

However, I think the government role should be more of a supportive role than an active enforcement agent.

I just don`t get it. He preaches everything that we all grow up learning in out text books thats beaten into our brain from 1st grade and yet a lot of folks say hes crazy for preaching the fundamentals. People shouldnt even watch mainstream media, its horrible for this country.

I think Bill Maher nailed this quite nicely: Rick Perry was talking about succession one week, then asking Obama for swine flu vaccines the following week.

I say, let them secede. We`ll all be better off without Texas. And it`ll be more vaccines for the rest of us =P

P.S. - Lincoln was, of course, against secession. So it`s time for Republicans to stop claiming to be the party of Lincoln. While we`re at it, Teddy Roosevelt was for the graduated income tax and was the first president to exercise the Sherman Anti-trust act, so they`re not really the party of TR either.

That pretty much leaves them Reagan, who was all talk, no substance, and only really useful for shoving religion down people`s throats. Can we finally realize that this party has become the albatross around the country`s neck?

The soviet satellites were succeeding from 45 years of oppression at the hand of a brutal communist dictatorship.

We succeeded from a torturous, vile British Monarchy with no respect for personal freedom.

Governor Rick Perry is upset that he has to put more into unemployment insurance if he accepts part of the stimulous plan.

Ron Paul is fucking idiot! and this is treasonous bullshit.

If one US state secedes then other states will follow, then the federal goverment will try to stem this disintegration assuring and making promises to the other states. The market will panic resulting in the devaluation of the currency collapsing other currencies then collapsing the economies of other nations reliant on the American market. Negotiations will start on how to divide the accumulated resources(military and basic)which will strain the releations further because other states will balk because they had contributed much more than others. Territorial disputes between states will be an issue. Hate mongering will perpetuate the population because of this then polarization will occur resulting in the creation of two polar opposites one believing the other as traitors and unpatriotic. The warmongering armed members of the population will form militia groups some with their own agenda will initiate armed skirmishes in the border in order to provoke mitary responses to justify starting a war. Inevitably animosity will fester resulting in the breakdowns of negotiations, as a result the markets suffer further which will bankcrupt companies, banks and other bussinesses which will layoff hundreds of thousands maybe millions of workers off their jobs resulting in their frustration with the goverment. The massive unemployment will collapse the welfare system and hunger will inevitably follow, crime rate will increase drastically, foodriots and demonstrations will be an everyday event resulting in the declaration of martial law which further aggravates the populace. The beleaguered goverments of the two sides looking to blame somebody will blame the other destroying whatever diplomatic relation that they may have. The continuing provocations of the militias will eventually be responded to by the military further provoking anger and hate from both sides. Then it happens, a defining moment, an event that solidifies the animosities on both sides, the lines are drawn, alliances are made and military forces are readied. The United States being the primary market will send the world market into turmoil, much of the other countries economies will never recover and their societies will also be in turmoil. Other countries specially the EU, Russia and China will intervene but sides will be taken resulting in further animosities, Canada and Mexico will be forced to choose a side. Eventually war will be declared which plunges the whole world on a new dark age.

Have a great sunny day everyone. Mwa ha ha hah

in canada, the province of quebec talk about seperation for about 40 years... federal government did everythings he can to stop it. they overflow the french speaking province with non-french speaking immigrants, cut a majority of the french cultural budget and re-centered all the political decision to Ottawa so that the province`s leader can`t make the seperation without the federal approvement. They even change the law so that, in the event of a separation vote from the french population, 50% +1 vote wont be the necessary majority. They treat seperatist as terrorist and slowly dilluate the distinctivity of that province so that it look more american, like the rest of Canada. It will surely never happen in the u.s.
