I fucking love this show. Only thing I think they should have talked about in this episode is the power of placebo effects, not only on the actual patient, but on the actual chemicals and materials being used.

Although not entirely convinced myself, research is starting to indicate the the placebo effect can actually penetrate a lot deeper than recently thought, something I thought might be important to look at when looking at provably foolish medical methods such as the ones they have shown.

Great episode Orgasmo, thanks. I wonder why they didn`t talk about homeopathy, I`m sure they considered it. And Black0ut, the placebo effect can only change your perception of your affliction, I don`t think it can cure an actual biological illness unless the "illness" comes from mental suggestion as well.

^Placebo makes them think they are going to get better -> That makes them happy -> That increases their immune systems -> They are able to fight off an actual illness that they wouldn`t have without it.

There are many studies that show a definitive link between emotions and the rate that wounds heal, viruses are fought off, and levels of physically measurable immune system cells.

Having said that, sugar pills are cheap there is no reason to rip people off because when they desperately need hope, same way that real drug companies shouldn`t be allowed to rape the people that need serious help.
