COLORADO- A 54-year-old Longmont man was issued a summons at after going into an Ethan Allen furniture store with a professional wrestling-type mask on.
Police were dispatched to a robbery-in-progress at the store. An employee said she saw a car pull up with two people inside with masks on and fearing a robbery told everyone to flee the store through the back.
Officers formed a perimeter around the store. A man in a mask, who was still in the store, was ordered to the ground. Upon interviewing the suspects, officers learned the 54-year-old and his wife had bought masks at a flea market and wore them to Ethan Allen.
The man's wife removed hers before entering the store, but the man left his face mask on. The man, who said he thought it would be funny to wear the mask in the store, told his wife, "If anyone asks why I'm wearing this mask, tell them I'm ugly."
They entered the store and started shopping. They thought it was a little odd there were no employees in the store. The man was processed at the Westminster Police Department and released on a municipal summons. Another shopper was placed in custody but quickly released. He said he saw the man in the mask and thought it was "a little strange," but kept shopping.
