It`s a pity they took so long to actually let him talk. I really wanted to hear his argument, he sounded quite eloquent.

So I`ve just watched the whole thing on youtube (almost an hour of debate) and basically, here is what my understanding of the discussion is:

Religious guy: "Logical reasoning is not a physical thing, it is a concept. And concepts requires a mind to exist. In natures laws of logic are always true and independent of anything such as time. Human minds are not perfect and depend on time. Therefore there must be a perfect mind that is eternal that causes logic to exist and it is "God".

Host: This reasoning is flawed. The laws of logic in nature will always exist in the physical world no matter if there is a mind or not. The logic you are talking about that requires a mind to exist is CONCEPTUAL logic. Therefore you don`t require an eternal mind to cause the nature`s laws of logic to exist in the physical world. And EVEN IF you did (which is not true anyway), you can`t just speculatively label it as "God". And even less label it as the "Christian`s God".

Essentially, the laws of logic (A rock just is a rock and not something else) and conceptual logic (Someone reasons that logically a rock is a rock and therefore cannot be something else) are two different things. But the religious guy mixes them together to make "his point". And the show host points it out to him but the religious guy evades this every time which causes the discussion to run in circles for almost an hour.



IMO by the appearances the religious guy seems to appear smart by using all these big words but all he is in reality is an overeducated idiot. He learnt a bunch of definitions but does not understand them. And he reasons by comparing these definitions. He cannot visualize or explain in other words his reasoning because he does not understand it. This easily leads to flaws and it did.


And I agree that the hosts on this video were not really letting him talk mainly because they were expecting him to be one of those usual nutcases with very simple "arguments". But that doesn`t take away the fact that his argument is BS and even self-contradicting.

the atheists made the mistake of agreeing with the caller that there are only 2 possibilities for the creation of the universe. There are infinite possibilities for this some which have been hypothesized, many which we have not even considered, and then there is God. Like the case of lightening, It may have seemed that Either God did it or he didn`t, however there are, assuming ignorance, thousands of natural possibilities: most of which are much better explanations than just saying God did it. Even if this guy did have a point, which I don`t think he really does or a weak one at best... Where the hell do you get the idea that the Bible is any kind of authority on the subject of god.. it was written by man for fuck sake!
