^I`ve been told by a "devout" Catholic (my grandfather lol) that homosexual peoples should abstain from sex... that having gay sex is the ultimate sin.

Most of the Church has supposedly come around to the idea that being gay isn’t a choice, so just being gay isn’t a sin. If it said GAY SEX - the box would`ve been that beautiful shade of red.

InsayneJayne is actually right, being gay is not a sin, as long as you see it as something you have to overcome. Whats wrong is what some gay people do, which is to say, they try to promote homosexuality as something normal.

If you were sick with flu, no one would ever dream of thinking that that is normal for a human being. But in more confusing waters like homosexuality, someone has to take a stand and declare what is right and what is wrong.

buddhism doesn`t exactly condemn homosexuality or masturbation on the basis of Right Intent/Thought. If any sex is consensual, doesn`t spread diseases, isn`t extramarital, etc - then its right. Theres no difference between hetero and homosexuality. You could of course abstain from any and all sex and sexual gratification but that would be your choice and your interpretation.
