I did something kind of similar to this once. I was pulling into a spot and accidentally bumped into a truck`s tire. I reversed and parked a little further down.

I walked over to the truck to see if I`d done any damage and there was a lady who saw it that was taking down my plate. She said "yeah, I saw the person who bumped into this guy and I got his plate!" I told her it was me and she left. I inspected the truck and there wasn`t any damage so I left once she was out of sight.

I was afraid that if I left my name number etc., the guy would find something wrong with his truck that I didn`t do and make me pay for it. Sad how untrustworthy people are. Honestly though, if I did do damage I`d have left my number.
