Altgeld: While I agree with you, I always get hung up on the word "Alive". I don`t think viruses are alive since they are simply protein chains, Whoever; If we (somehow) found a virus on any planet other than Earth, the declaration of life being found would be made.

Hate to break it to you guys, but Biology does not qualify viruses as either LIFE or Alive. They are simply a protein capsid with a assortment of genetic material inside. Their morphology and multiplication patterns do not constitute it as life.

I just graduated from Microbiology. Viruses are technically not alive. However since they do need hosts to replicate and make new infectious viral particles they are susceptible to selective pressure. To be honest, this whole flu outbreak has been blown out of pressure. Most of those who have been infected have come down with mild cases. The annual flu that we get every year probably has killed more people than this swine flu.

the reason why a vaccine would kill more than the virus itself is cuz the vaccine prevented the gajillion more people the virus would have killed if the virus was left unchecked

if a christian scientist creates a vaccine against aids or cancer will atheists refuse it on principle ? so why would christians not take a vaccine against this flu ? he changed his view from evolving bacteria/viruses to adapting b/v . ps if u create a vaccine it does not kill the virus it vaccinates the person from developing the scary bits . if you kill the virus 100 percent world wide it cant evolve or adapt . if 1 percent is resistant then it multiplies to become that vaccine resistant form of flu . figure it out before you type shit
