Aftermath of Queensday Assassination Att...

In the process of targeting the Dutch Royal Family a man plowed through a crowd attending the Queensday parade with his car in Apeldoorn, Holland just before crashing into a monument. Five people died and at least a dozen were injured in the attack. The suspect later died in the hospital of major head injuries.

this is so sickening to watch... i felt a shock thrue my body when i saw the child at 0:35. my heart goes out to all those injured and reletives of those who died.

Karst Tates, a 38-year-old Dutch national, was critically injured after his attempted attack on the Dutch royal family, and died in hospital overnight.

His car crashed into a monument after ploughing through bystanders who were marking Queen`s Day in Apeldoorn.
His neighbours in the eastern town of Huissen told Radio Netherlands that he had worked as a security guard until a few months ago, when he was made redundant. They described him as a quiet, solitary man.

"Recently, he informed me that he had been dismissed and could no longer pay the rent," his landlord, Sem Bosman, told De Telegraaf. "He was due to have come today to transfer the keys to a new tenant."

Mr Tates had no criminal record or known mental health problems.

He told a close friend that life would be over for him once he lost his house. He did.

What is frightening mostly, is the fact that it was a decent, solitary man. Much like our friendly neighbor, relative, or even ourselves.

Condemn his soul, but don`t label him as "just a freak".

Although I do not give this man any credit for his horrendous deeds, it is human, and inevitably within all of us to go or be taken this far.

Queen`s day here in the Netherlands, for those of you who don`t know, is a day of the year in which the ENTIRE country is partying. By many people it isn`t perceived as a celebration of the queen (tratition states it is) but a day where EVERYONE (no matter what religion/color/age/mental alignment)is having a good time. In the center of the city where you live there will be bands performing and student organizations organizing fun little activities like limbo dancing among the crowd. Everyone is dancing, having a nice conversation and being happy. You could probably see a KKK member dancing with an african girl. The best thing however, is that it is the only day of the year when drinking in public is `tolerated` :D (which might have something to do with all of the above)

Anyways, I woke up on thursday (that day) and I saw what happened on the news. It is horrible to see such a thing obviously, but then again i`m used to seeing death in the news. I went to work short after. After work i would join up with some friends and maybe look up my sister at the party. At about 5 p.m. i heard queen`s day (meaning all planned activities/music etc) was cancelled in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. At about 7 p.m. I called my friend who i was supposed to meet up with and he told me queen`s day was cancelled in the entire country, obviously including my city.

So, I was FUCKING PISSED. Disregarding new years eve, the ONLY day in the year to look out to was ruined.
Many people were already drunk at about 4 p.m. (when I went to work) which is no biggy since everyone is happy, so no violence etc. BUT, everyone in the country migrates to the major cities on queens day, so a hell of alot of people from the farmlands and smaller towns (which are called rednecks and hicks in America) were present too.

So, everyone was looking forward to queen`s day. (at this time i should mention it should be called queen`s eve because the great times are between 8 p.m. and midnight.) Most people were drunk when the entire thing was cancelled, and let me tell you the entire thing was just like picking a fight with a drunk `redneck`. Only the redneck doesnt know who to attack... so there were drunk pissed off assholes (not me!) in the streets throwing beerbottles everywhere, calling random people lesbians and faggots etc.

So, it wasnt just the incident in Apeldoorn that made it a bad day. The entire country was fucked out of their greatest party. That was one shitty day.

Sorry for the long text and garbage grammer, i just thought you would like to know how this day was for an `average` Dutch guy.
