Two Michigan men are facing felony child abuse charges after they allegedly punished a 6-year-old relative by burning his buttocks with a blowtorch.
Gerald Hall, 36, and his brother, Glen Hall, 43, of Clare County were charged Wednesday after a lengthy investigation into the incident brought forth by the state Department of Human Services, the Morning Sun reported.
The men are accused of burning Gerald Hall’s son on the buttocks with a blowtorch on at least one occasion as a punishment. The extent of the boy’s injuries and what the boy was being punished for was not reported.
Glen Hall is on parole after serving time in prison for a drunken driving causing serious injury conviction in 2003 and could face more time in prison than the 15-year, child-abuse felony allows if convicted. He also was convicted of possession of a firearm by a felon in 2008.
The boy has recovered physically and is currently in protective custody.
